"Tales From The Golden Road" Presents A Mother's Day Special
"That's right, the women are smarter!"

As the May 11th edition of "Tales From The Golden Road" on Sirius Satellite Radio's Grateful Dead Channel coincides with the observance of Mother's Day, we can't think of a better way to celebrate than with a salute to women in the Grateful Dead world.

We'll be talking to women who have played a central part in the extended Grateful Dead family over the years, including Carolyn (Mountain Girl) Garcia and Donna Jean Godchaux, who had the unique distinction of serving as the only female member of the band.

If you have stories of your life as a woman in the Dead Head world; if you're a mother of Dead Head kids or a kid with a Dead Head mom; or even just a Dead Head whose mom showed extreme patience in putting up with your nomadic pursuit of the band - you're invited to join the discussion by calling 1-888-89-SIRIUS

"Tales From The Golden Road" airs every Sunday from 4 to 6 pm ET on the Grateful Dead Channel, Sirius 32. The program is rebroadcast Monday at 9am ET and Tuesday at 5pm ET.

Mother's Day at the Frost 86'
The Frost at Stanford was the place to see the Dead (5/11/86) even on Mother's Day. The only hard part was seeing that they had a large heart on top of the speakers with the word "Mom" on it that I kept looking at during the show. Kind of gave me the guilt trip for not calling her before the show. And being somewhat high I knew I would have to call mom after the show immediately as she was on the east coast (and the show wouldn't be over until like 5:30 or 6 west coast time. So the show ends, a fine one at that. Good time for sure, and now I am high and knowing I have to call her. But anyway I ended up calling her from a pay phone at the Maples Pavilion ( another venue at Stanford well known to the band) and wished her the best. She thought I was nuts that I was at Stanford seeing the Dead, but she didn't care as I remembered to call and that I was having fun and it was normal that I was seeing the band. So with that call out of the way I made it back to the car with my friends and proceeded to relax after a great afternoon with the Dead and start making the trek home. Another great day of music and I bet there were a few Mom's in the crowd who dug it!

    Mother's day special
I was so disapointed in the interview with Donna, being the only female ever in the band I am sure she has such great stories to tell, but it fell short, almost boring....the inerviewer could have asked sooooo many questions that would have opened Donna up to reflect on these great stories...but no
