I'm not allowed to cast my vote in the American election ... neither are some other billions of people throughout the world ... but many of us are following the event, as interested as we are following our own national elections. You who think you will not vote - please think again, especially if you would vote for Obama. If I who live in Scandianavia would like to vote but can't because I think it is that important for the whole world, then I beg you to consider that if you unsure yourself what to do ... Nice music by the way ... Micke Östlund, Växjö, Sweden ------------------------------ My record collection: jazzmicke

Here in Denmark there is tremendous excitement over this election, and massive TV coverage. I haven't seen any U.S. presidential election generate this much interest since JFK vs. RMN in 1960. I still have recollections of that although I was only 9 at the time. My greatest concern is, supposing Obama wins, whether he will survive his term. I guess there are still as many trigger-happy extremists out there as in 1963, and not all of them are as stupid as those neo-nazis.

Canadians are also very interested in the election. America has been on the wrong path for 8 long years..................ANY SOCIETY THAT WOULD GIVE UP A LITTLE LIBERTY TO GAIN A LITTLE SECURITY WILL DESERVE NEITHER AND LOSE BOTH - - BENJAMIN FRANKLIN great music --- happy halloween

...Gotta get rid of them. Just as the post above me stated....we've given up liberties and made "emergency" power rules for Dubya that harkens of Hitler in 1933. Get rid of him and bring America back to what it stands for....FREEDOM! I served my country for 8 years and I tell ya...it wasn't for the rules that are in place now! ..even a blind man knows when the sun is shinin'...you can feel it!..

We are actually tired and exhausted from this election. The campaigning has been going on for over a year. We want it over. It's madness. Our brains are fried.

I was at this show and it was an intense vibe. Of course the usual Halloween festivities were going on. Jerry was particularly plaintive that night: Ship of Fools, He's Gone, Morning Dew. The Satisfaction was a blast. And then we still had more BCT shows to come back to!!!

my only Halloween show was at Radio City back in the early 80s, funny start with Franken and Davis or was it Penn and Teller? Anyway, the kids are dressed and going out with dad, Momma's gonna crank up the CDs and drink a magical potion while handing out goodies to bewitching lil sprouts. Enjoy the nite! Guess it doesn't matter anyway.........Ami

Thanks so much for this posting! Wife and I listened to it earlier and enjoyed it alot. Never had heard it before. We have about 8 8th grade boys here right now preparing to go out tricking and treating and I have a video of 10-19-89 going on the TV. Halloween always makes me miss Jerry so much. Only caught one Jerry Halloween show and one Halloween dead show. Man, those were the days. Does God look down on the boys in the barroom Mainly forsaken but surely not judged? Jacks, kings, and aces, their faces in wine Do Lord deliver our kind

Great run, 6 nights @ BCT, 10-31, 11-2 & 11-3 would make a great box set. I taped all 6 nights, first shows with dedicated tappers section, but this sounds much better. Augusta 84, should also be released. Happy Halloween

You say don't vote because it only encourages them ... on the other hand whether you cast your vote or not there will be someone elected next Tuesday. In my country (Sweden) there is saying that goes "if you don't vote, you have no right to complain afterwards". It's so true ... The problem in my country is usually that the people who will benefit the most from social and economic justice are the ones that most likely will not vote. This means the lower classes, so to speak, will lose even more after an election. Isn't that just stupid, not to cast your vote, when that vote would have meant a better change for you in person?? Sure every country have its equal share of dumb ass politicians but why give them a chance to control your everyday life?? There will still be politicians in charge of your country, why not take the opportunity to try to get slighty better politicians in control, in that case?? Please vote! it's a sign of tremendous privilege and entitlement when someone shirks their responsibility to vote. as we all know there are parts of the world where they would love to be able to have a say in what goes on in their government...and even die for it. our system is far far from perfect, but to not participate, ESPECIALLY in an election as important as this one, is a crying shame. i think of people like you around the world watching for our election results and the people who poo-poo the election process here and i get disgusted. it's something like throwing away food in front of someone who doesn't have the opportunity to eat.thanks for hangin' with my ramblings, and good luck to us all.

Thank you ... you're absolutely right ... and a lot of Swedes do not have that high opinion about a lot of Americans ... something a guy have started a discussion about on the Swedish Internet community where I spend most of my Internet time ... Take a look here: Of the 18 to 24 year olds in the USA ... 63% cannot point out where Iraq or Saudiarabia is located on a Middle East map 75 % can not point out Israel eller Iran 20% thinks Sudan is located in Asia, och 10% thinks Sudan is in Europe. 70% don't know where North Corea is located 50% can not even point out New York on a map!!! Many Americans even think the Islamic religion is the dominanting religion in India. Source: National Geographic, 2006 Now, many Swedes believe the answers would have been different if the following questions would have been asked the people of New England, and thinks they are now asked to people in poorer neighborhoods of say Los Angeles: http://bloghumor.blogspot.com/2007/03/dumma-amerikaner.html And after you watched this, you may agree with some Swedes that putting weopons of destruction in the hands of the USA, is like giving a bunch of wild monkeys loaded handguns. Let me say this, the American election was so important to the rest of the world, that the oldest Swedish public service TV-channel covered the last 8 hours of it. A matter a fact, as some guest on the program said, it was remarkable since not even the election to the European Union gets that much attention and coverage from the Swedish media!!! Of course I followed most of the program and saw both McCain and Obama speak - in real time. The leader of the biggest Swedish party, Mona Sahlin of the Socialdemocrats, said that the American people have restored their reputation with the election of Barack Obama. She also said that Barack Obama has shown the world that there are more deep to American politics before tonight than most of us believed. The opinion otherwise has been that American politics is more about ballons, glitter and glamour, than any real life politics. So from the rest of the world, we wish America the best of luck with your new administration. Even though we understand Barack Obama might turn the war in Afghanistan into what has now been the situation in Iraq, but then ONE ongoing war is better than TWO ongoing wars, and perhaps if both you and the Afghanistani people are lucky, the foreign politics of Barack Obama will eventually put an end to the war in Afghanistan as well. Good luck America! Micke Östlund, Växjö, Sweden ------------------------------ My record collection: jazzmicke

It is sad that the most powerful country in the world knows so little about the rest of the globe. as you say, there is some hope and resemption in obama's win.good luck to all of us:)
