Tapers Section By David Lemieux

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this we have Grateful Dead music from 1983, 1988, and 1990.

Our first selection this week is from 9/4/83 at Park City, UT, here we have the entire first set, featuring Bertha > The Promised Land ; Friend Of The Devi ; Little Red Rooster ; Tennessee Jed ; My Brother Esau ; Althea ; Hell In A Bucket ; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider.

Next is the end of the show from 6/20/88 at Alpine Valley, the second show of a four night right in Wisconsin, featuring The Other One> Wharf Rat > Around and Around> Good Lovin, US Blues. Runs of shows that lasted four nights or more were rare until 1988, but quite common after this run of show.

Lastly this week is music from Vince Welnick’s first show as a member of the Grateful Dead, on 9/7/90 in Richfield, OH, featuring the start of the second set: China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider; Truckin' > Crazy Fingers > Playing In The Band.

Be sure to join us here next week for more music from the vault.

After all these years. Am I finally becoming kind of a big '88 fan?
