Tapers Section By David Lemieux

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have a fine batch o' Dead from 1970, 1972 and 1982.

Our first stop this week is the first show of 1970, on 1/2/70 at the Fillmore East in New York. The opening track, The Other One, only features the end of the song, as this portion of the show we'll play for you today is the start of a reel, but we have some fine music after that: Other One>Cryptical Envelopment>Cosmic Charlie, Uncle John's Band>High Time.

From exactly two years later on 1/2/72 at Winterland in San Francisco, we have the start of the show, eaturing Truckin',Sugaree ,Mr. Charlie ,Beat It On Down The Line ,Loser, Jack Straw ,Chinatown Shuffle ,Tennessee Jed, El Paso ,You Win Again. This is the show that also included the split Good Lovin' (with China>Rider in the middle), which we've played for you here before.

Lastly this week is music from the fine Spring Tour of 1982 (for further proof of the high quality of this tour, check out the brand new Road Trips Vol. 4 No. 4), on 4/11/82 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY, where we have the end of the first set, featuring Althea > Beat It On Down The Line ; Row Jimmy ; Let It G/row. There's a cassette master cut in Let It Grow, but it's not too obtrusive.

Be sure to stop by next week for more great music from the Grateful Dead's archive. And as always, we encourage you to write to us at the address below.

Good selections from '70 and '72 ! Thanks David!

I'll be listening intently and hoping that Wall Street doesn't suffer another meltdown after the S & P credit downgrade and market reactions from Asia and Europe already this morning. The U.S. economy needs a shot of optimism.
