    1993-1995
I dont post very often, When I see an opurtunity to comment on 93-95, I jump. I happend to love those 90's shows. Those shows are what got me hooked. Then along came the rest to confirm my suspicions that this was the all time band. I bet there are plenty of 90's shows on video in the vault that could blow minds across the planet. Perhaps reviving the "View From The Vault"? Those were sweet. On the morning of January 26th I watched the news looking for a report of the UFO that took the top off the Oakland coliseum so that aliens could see what was going on. I found no report. So I'll have to wait for the video of 1/25/93 for proof I guess. And that was my two cents

Anyone remember the fan that climbed up on stage during Greatest Story? Donna was a bit apprehensive, understandably, and 6 months pregnant. The big guy eventually left the stage when the song finished, with assistance from a few stage hands.

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1973, 1983 and 1994.

Our first stop this week is from the outstanding October, 1973 tour, part of a sustained period of excellence that last from early September through mid December 1973. From the first set of the 10/27/73 show in Indianapolis, we have El Paso, Brown-Eyed Women, Greatest Story Ever Told, Loose Lucy, Beat it On Down The Line, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider.

Next up is the post-Drums sequence from 10/21/83, an excellent show at the Worcester Centrum, a week after the show from Hartford that became Dick's Picks Vol. 6. From Worcester, we have Space>Truckin'>Wharf Rat>I Need A Miracle>Touch Of Grey, Johnny B. Goode.

Lastly this week is music from 10/18/94 at Madison Square Graden, the Dead's final run of shows at the MSG. From the start of the second set, we have Iko Iko, Samba In The Rain, He's Gone'>Smokestack Lightning>Truckin'.

Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault.

If you listen to the very beginning of the space on 10/21/83 there seems like a brief quote of Sage and Spirit.

Same thing happens at the Merriwether Post out of space (if I recall) in June, earlier that same year. From what I can remember, it was more subtle than the one in Worcester.P.S. Come to think of it, it might have been '84.

Man, what a great show from this 1st set selection I'm hearing here. The boys were definitely on top of their game this night. Hope this gets released at some point.

I liked it when Weir or Garcia would paste in some riffs from non-standarad tunes. It seems they usually did it when they were switching gears, knobs, and settings on what was coming next. Or , more enjoyably, just to have some fun.I love the tapers section, keep 'em coming. When I push PLAY at home, I know what I'm gonna get. These selections keep a little randomness to what Im listening to.

This was my last show. I rememember it being kind of laid back but a wonderful surprise. They were most definitely on that night. My previous show in August 94 at Giants Stadium was so weak that I kind of swore off seeing any more shows. I was sitting around one evening hanging with a friend who loved music but had never experienced a Dead show. So we hopped on the subway and a few minutes later were at the Garden. The MSG vibe was great. Walked right up to the lobby box office to buy tickets (did not sell out). On the escalators going up many in the crowd were chanting "Lets go Rangers". The NY Rangers finally won the stanley cup after 50 plus years a few months back. Once the band got going you just knew you were in the right place. Phil's bass reverberating through the building bouncing off the famous ceiling, people dancing/twirling in all the gate entrances, Jerry loud, clear and in great vocal form! Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile & indeed everyone was smiling all night. Really sweet experience for my last ever show and now I get to hear it again. Thankfully it sounds just as good as I remember it.
