Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1970, 1972, and 1974

From the first show of one of the best years in Grateful Dead history, we have the Live/Dead suite from 1/2/70 at the Fillmore East in New York City, featuring Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven>Lovelight.

Next up, from exactly two years later, is music from the first show of another of the Grateful Dead’s best years, 1972, with this sequence of tunes from 1/2/72 at Winterland in San Francisco, featuring Truckin', Sugaree, Mr. Charlie, Beat It On Down The Line, Loser, Jack Straw.

Lastly this week is a batch of first set music from 7/25/74 in Chicago, a Wall Of Sound show featuring Loose Lucy ; Black Throated Wind ; Loser ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Sugaree ; Mexicali Blues ; Brown Eyed Women ; El Paso.

Tune in next week for more music from the vault.

Please release every second of 1970 GD in the vault. Just do it. Those who would love it the most won't be around forever. No excuses please. It's not complicated. Ok then, get to it.

This one is indeed a monster! But it also has a significant cut. Most of these in this period would wrap up and land in the vicinity of St Stephen quickly, so probably only missing 30 more seconds or so, but missing a couple minutes of Stephen at least. As good as it is, if they have a short 1970 show coming out in a Dave's Picks, they should use this as filler, 71 minutes, a nice disc of fantastic dying primal Dead.
