July 11 - July 17, 2016
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1969, 1973 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is from 12/19/69 at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, where we have a good batch of music: Cryptical Envelopment > Drums> The Other One > Cryptical Envelopment > Uncle John's Band > Turn On Your Love Light.
From exactly four years later, from the show that would end up being released as the first Dick’s Pick, and that was the last show of the great year of 1973, we have the start of the concert from 12/19/73 in Tampa, FL, featuring The Promised Land ; Sugaree ; Mexicali Blues ; Dire Wolf ; Black Throated Wind ; Candyman ; Jack Straw.
Lastly this week we have the start of the second set from the Dead’s last-ever show at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, CA, on 12/10/89, featuring Jack Straw > China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider, Man Smart (Woman Smarter).
Be sure to join us next week for more music from the vault.
Thought that I would "hate' the modern show (12/89), so I saved it for last. WOW. That second set starts on fire and just add the gas.
I miss Brent.
Damn close to being Brent's last show. Still pissed that he did in fact check out the next year.
The December '89 Forum shows have been getting a lot of love here on Tapers section and Jam of the Week. I hope this means a release of this run is imminent.
The '69 and '73 selections look good too.
Wowie Zowie! Great stuff, thanks David.
