July 16 - July 22, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll cover about nine years of Grateful Dead history, with music from 1976, 1978 and 1985.
Our first stop is on the excellent Fall Tour of 1976, when the sound of 1977 was beginning to creep into the music. From the penultimate show of the tour, on 10/2/76 in Cincinnati, we have the end of the first set plus the first song of the second set. Tennessee Jed, It's All Over Now, Brown-Eyed Women, Let It Grow, Might As Well; The Music Never Stopped.
Next up is music from the last US show before Egypt, on 9/2/78 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. From that show, we have the start of the second set featuring one of the most interest renditions of Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain ever performed.
Lastly this week is the pre-Drums sequence from 11/5/85 in Worcester, MA, where we have Man Smart Woman Smarter, Ship Of Fools, Supplication>Playing Reprise>I Don't Need Love.
Be sure to join us next week for more great tunes from deep within the vault.

This must have been the last Supplication played before 1994.
Three years hence "Festival Seating" would become infamous in Cincinnati.

Thanks for the nice long Scarlet >Fire, from New Jersey: Interesting stop after 2 shows at Red Rocks, then off to Egypt.
From Cincinnati, the 2nd set list, on deadlists.com, has different songs stated; however, Jerry Moore's audience tape gives the correct songs on the LMA. Archive.org doesn't have a soundboard recording. The night before in Indy sure rocked!
