June 4- June 10, 2012

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll have music from 1969, 1970 and 1984.
Our first stop is on 8/30/69 at the Family Dog in San Francisco, where we have this great quartet of song: China Cat Sunflower>Doin' That Rag, Morning Dew, Easy Wind. To my ears, the Grateful Dead always seemed to play a little looser when they were at the Family Dog.
Next is music from Honolulu, HI, on 1/23/70, featuring China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, Black Peter, Yellow Dog Story, Hard To Handle 1/23/70. I'm a big fan of these earlier versions of Hard To Handle, much more raw than the precision versions from 1971 (which I also love!).
Lastly this week is the entire first set from 7/21/84 in Ventura, CA. From this show, we have Shakedown Street ; Little Red Rooster ; Althea; Me And My Uncle> Mexicali Blues; China Cat Sunflower> I Know You Rider ; Looks Like Rain; Might As Well.
Be sure to come by again next week for more tunes from the vault.
