March 26 - April 1, 2012
Greetings, and welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from 1966, 1979 and 1980.
Our first selection this week is from the Matrix on 12/1/66, one of the only tapes we have in the vault from the second half of 1966. From this mighty interesting show, we have It Hurts Me Too ; On The Road Again ; Yonder's Wall; My Own Fault ; Down So Long ; Cold Rain And Snow ; Viola Lee Blues.
Next up is the first half of the first set of the first night of a three night run in Chicago in December, 1979. From 13/3/79, we have Alabama Getaway > The Promised Land ; Brown Eyed Women ; El Paso; Ramble On Rose ; It's All Over Now.
Lastly this week is a nice batch of 1980 Dead, from 12/13/80 in Long Beach, CA. After the good-but-(mostly)-not great runs at the Warfield and Radio City in the Fall of 1980, the band really seemed to step up their game with the shows in November and December of 1980. From this show in Southern California, we have New Minglewood Blues ; Ramble On Rose ; Lost Sailor> Saint Of Circumstance> Deal.
Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault.
I'll be back later, xo.
for that FILTHY Minglewood (w/ nasty cut), great example of the Nov-Dec '80 beasty sound that many of us have been calling out. How many shows from those two months and 1981 are in the vault? Thanks!
Primal Dead, late 66 - wow! that Viola had so many peaks and valleys, like a roller coaster ride - can't imagine trying to ride that one in 66...
The Decembuary 79 Dead, very sweet - Jerry with the angelic voice still, Brent feeling his way with the piano tinklings, Phil with that rough fat string sound...love it!
On to Long Beach - surf's up!
loved this venue almost as much as the boyz dug playing there... It was a great place to hang out before and after the show, interesting piece to snip out, wonder what piqued your sensibility Mr. Lemieux?
"Did you say your name..."
"Mama told the jailer"
"Settle down easy"
"I'm gonna sing you"
"I know this song"
"Gonna march you"
"Take you to the Leader of the Band"
"Sitting flush with a royal flush..."
"Clank your chains"
Aww shucks, thanks, xo!
The fire is just so fine this morning.
The music is streaming with as much
delightful warmth. I am cozy and soothed.
Rambling, like usual. From my home to
yours, may the crackling fire comfort you
like you were here. Drinking expresso
and burning the Nag and rocking the
neighbors with this great picks.
I love it all because I want it that way.
-(mostly)-not great describes me nicely,
I am enjoying the commonalities just fine!
Good Morning Gr8fulTed, xo! Yes, I missed
Phil and was so sad about that. But am jumping
in and out of here as I work at home today.
Usually off on Monday but had to do some left
over stuff. Almost finished but I am having such a
Gr8 time, I am on a bonus pay scale. Only an
hour to go but I ain't gonna stop rocking now!
Have a sweet and delightful Monday!

Back into Hurts Me Too...
Wrong with you...
I so love PigPen.
His wild and raw energy thrills me!
There is always something special
in every Grateful Dead song for me,
and I always- syswla find it. Then I
rock it like crazy or embrace it and
weep or define and memorize it or
study it and learn it or find it and
just appreciate it or-or-or-or-or-or-
yeah OR go fucking nuts with it!
SURE AS YOUR BORN!
Harmonica baby, AROOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Um, work- right...HA!
I'll put in the extra 11 minutes, count on it!
Sherbear was up early today! Enjoying the 'bama Getaway while I sip my morning 'jo.
Still no eagle egg hatch on the Ustream video in Decorah, IA
