Grateful Dead
May 28 - June 3, 2012
Week of May 28-June 3, 2012
Welcome back to the tapers' Section, where this week we have a batch of music that is largely a continuation of music from last week, spanning 1969, 1971 and 1986.
Our first stop is on 7/7/69 in Atlanta, where we have the end of the show featuring St. Stephen>The Eleven>Lovelight, which is a continuation of last week's Dark Star from this show. There's a cassette flip in Lovelight.
Next is music from the first night of a four night at the Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden in NYC, featuring You Win Again, Me and Bobby McGee, Comes A Time, Smokestack Lightning from 12/4/71.
Lastly this week is the entire second set from 3/31/86 in Providence, RI, featuring Feel Like A Stranger ; Ship Of Fools ; Willie And The Hand Jive ; Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad> Drums >Space>Comes A Time>Truckin'>Johnny B. Goode. We hope you don't mind two versions of Comes A Time this week. There's a very nice transition between GDTRFB and Drums.
Be sure to join us next week for more great music from the vault.

There's an El Paso between Comes a Time and Smokestack. Very nice!!!
These were the only shows of the tour I did not see, but now that you mention it I vaguely remember hearing about the bottle incident. I remember seeing some guy pissing off the balcony rail at MSG and onto the floor the following year. Wow!
Hey Man,
The 3 night stand in Providence '86 has some bright moments throughout.
We took over the Howard Johnson's Seekonk.
Somehow, my brother got the large bathroom mirror off the wall, laid it on
the floor. 3 adjoining rooms, all doors open. Bowling alley!
100 Molson Golden Ales on Ice in the tub, etc. Night auditor cool.
Thanks for leaving Drums intact on this memorable sequence.
Fantastic!
Family Disclaimer: I had married my lovely wife AFTER this run of shows.
Merci beaucoup Monsieur Lemieux

I remember the seeing Mickey & Billy having fit but did not know why. When I heard it broke my heart.
Thanks.
I have been resurrected, again.
I am not like a cat, I'm past nine.
Glad to celebrate here with these
excellent picks.
"I've been gone so long..."
phew.
Yeah, friggin jack-ass.
Surprising they finished the show at all.
Comes a Time closer?
I want to say it was a Heineken bottle. Friggin Jack-ass.
This was my first full tour. I was just listening to this today. Three very solid shows in a row.
Thank you for letting me hear this wonderful board! Could you post which one you used?
Hey now, Dave! Thanks for picking some tasty nugs to share once again this week....
That is definitely a "jam" after GDTRFB; I love discovering stuff like that when it's not obvious from the setlist.... you really must have one of the coolest gigs ever!
Anyway, I'm a child of the 80's & I'm hoping for a Brent show for your third installment of DP.... I know it's not everyone's favorite period, but what the hell, ya can't please everybody! ;-)
Keep on pickin'!

How would/did you feel about no Other One after that jam? I'm thinking of Furthur in Portland last fall when they teased Other One all second set and at times it just seemed they weren't going to actually do it. And then they did :)
