Grateful Dead
May 28 - June 3, 2012
Week of May 28-June 3, 2012
Welcome back to the tapers' Section, where this week we have a batch of music that is largely a continuation of music from last week, spanning 1969, 1971 and 1986.
Our first stop is on 7/7/69 in Atlanta, where we have the end of the show featuring St. Stephen>The Eleven>Lovelight, which is a continuation of last week's Dark Star from this show. There's a cassette flip in Lovelight.
Next is music from the first night of a four night at the Felt Forum at Madison Square Garden in NYC, featuring You Win Again, Me and Bobby McGee, Comes A Time, Smokestack Lightning from 12/4/71.
Lastly this week is the entire second set from 3/31/86 in Providence, RI, featuring Feel Like A Stranger ; Ship Of Fools ; Willie And The Hand Jive ; Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad> Drums >Space>Comes A Time>Truckin'>Johnny B. Goode. We hope you don't mind two versions of Comes A Time this week. There's a very nice transition between GDTRFB and Drums.
Be sure to join us next week for more great music from the vault.

That one flew under my radar. The jam has UJB and Other One teases/overtones. The Drums is positively tribal and the Comes a Time is a ripper. Jerry really shines in this set. Thanks for sharing.
Should have called it "Jam" in the setlist. Has nothing to do with GDTRFB. Pretty cool stuff.
Dave,
Once again, Thanks for the "flashback" to Providence.
I listened to it on tape on my couch and was transported. A great show with a great set list.

A lot of people don't like 86 but there are a lot of moments and solid shows, short though most of them were. I was at this show and LOVED it! It was great until somebody threw a bottle at at Billy & Mickey because Jerry was kicking ass with Comes A Time. Troopers they were though and instead of leaving the stage they revved up with very fast versions of Truckin'>JBG with no encore to finish.
They started the next show with Gimme Some Lovin' -- They were a class act!
