May 29 - June 04, 2017
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have music from 1970, 1981 and 1989.
Our first selection this week is one song, but what a song it is: Turn On Your Lovelight from 7/16/90 in San Rafael, CA, with very special guest Janis Joplin. Terrific stuff.
Next up is the start of the first set from 7/8/81 in St. Louis, where we have this excellent sequence featuring Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Feel Like A Stranger ; Peggy-O > Little Red Rooster.
Lastly this week is a terrific first set from 7/13/89 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, the second night of an excellent two night run on the consistently great Summer Tour of 1989: Hell In A Bucket ; Cold Rain And Snow ; Little Red Rooster ; Tennessee Jed ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again ; To Lay Me Down ; Let It Grow. That’s Bruce Hornsby sitting in on Tennessee Jed and Memphis Blues.
Be sure to join us here next week for more great music from the vault.
Start of this show is hot, with these 4 songs in sequence
Super high power. One of my favorites from 1981.
MSG 1981 March shows in another with sizzling start + 9.26.81
I was there too, and I remember this. She was great. Admittedly....I was pretty high that night.
Janis and Pig were present at the 2/14/1907 show as well....
they get around....
Back from the dead to do a 1990 reunion show. Sounding pretty good too..... I was in Buffalo on this date and don't remember this being played.. LOL
Very nice piece with Janis.
Have not heard her sing in years. Super cool to listen to that voice. It never gets old.....
Smokin hot !!! Sizzling
Took me to the Sizzla , forgot what I was listening to
Sometimes those are the best lol
Had a cast on my leg, swinging away to the boys on the field at RFK, a good two shows. Had the cast removed three weeks later and off for the Greeks - a nice summer. I saw The Who at the LA Coliseum who where doing the 20 years celebration tour of Tommy a week after the Greeks.
