Our first selection this week is the show-opening sequence from 9/24/72 in Waterbury, CT, where we have Big Railroad Blues; Mexicali Blues ; Loser ; Black Throated Wind ; Cumberland Blues ; Sugaree, including a rare Big Railroad Blues opener.
Next is the big second set jam from the penultimate show of the Europe ’74 tour, from Paris, France, on 9/20/74 where we have Truckin' > Eyes Of The World > Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > One More Saturday Night, US Blues.
Lastly this week is the excellent first set from the second night of a five night run at Madison Square Garden on 9/26/87, where we have Touch Of Grey > Scarlet Begonias ; Little Red Rooster ; Dire Wolf ; My Brother Esau; High Time; Let It Grow > Don't Ease Me In. I was fortunate to attend this show and the Garden went nuts when they broke into Scarlet as the second song of the night.
Be sure to stop in next week for more music from the Grateful Dead’s vault.
Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1972, 1974, and 1987.
The 3rd selection this week (11/12-11/18/18) is from 9/16/87 (not 9/26/87). I was at MSG on 9/15 and the Spectrum 9/22, but I'm sorry I missed this one. It's great, especially the Scarlet Begonias in the first set!!!
Was on the floor this night Phil's side FOB, great first set and the Garden did erupt for a first set Scarlet. I always liked Touch as a show opener or encore best. Total Dupree's tease before High Time this night, not my Favorite Second Set of this five night run but Jerry Howls during He's Gone in the second set, it was amazing. Also, tease GDTRFB prior to Black Muddy encore. Setting us up for Friday's nights meltdown in the Garden.
