    2nd that Emotion, Zuck
Lets keep the library going with the comments intact! And I too have always wondered how the drummers never lost their minds during all the slow songs.

    Question...
The disappearance of the last 2 weeks of the Taper's Section- is this a glitch? Or is this a trend- like the Taper's Section will from now on stream for one week only like JOTW? Thanks for any insight...

is that a theramin on LLR?
probably a keyboard try-out, but it sounds quite strange (as it should) how did Billy drum on these slow songs without losing his mind?

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we cover almost 20 years of Dead history, with music from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Our first stop this week is the first leg of the three (four?) leg Fall Tour of 1973 (September, October, the November sporadic shows, and December). From 9/17/73 in Syracuse, NY, we have the bulk of the first set featuring Tennessee Jed, Me and My Uncle, They Love Each Other, Beat It On Down The Line, Sugaree, Mexicali Blues, /Loser, Looks Like Rain, Row Jimmy, Jack Straw, Loose Lucy, You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man, El Paso. That's a rare Tennessee Jed opener.

Next up is music from the Grateful Dead's final live performance from their adopted home town of San Rafael, CA, on 4/1/84 from which we have the start of the second set: Help On The Way>Slipknot!>Franklin's Tower, Samson and Delilah, Terrapin Station. They'd do residencies here in 1985 and 1986 while filming the So Far video, and also in January, 1987 when they recorded the basics for In The Dark, but none of these sessions featured an audience.

Lastly this week from 8/18/91 at Shoreline, we have the end of the show featuring China Doll>GDTRFB>Throwing Stones>Not Fade Away, Brokedown Palace. That's Bruce Hornsby on piano, adding layers to the sound that would be missed when he left the band in 1992.

Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
