    Here is the first installment of my Best of 79 project, presented both in SHN/FLAC and WAV. As discussed in the metatopic, I will convert ONE of the shows to WAV and I ask the first 3 people who sign up for this vine to convert and burn one show each, resulting in all 4 shows being in WAV format by the time the vine arrives to the 4th person.

    As per the title, I selected what I think are the 4 best shows from the tour. Suprisingly perhaps, I thought the early shows from the tour were the best (and not the more famous 1/20 and 2/3, although both second sets from those nights are very good). 1/7 and 1/8 are from MSG and are B+ AUDs. 1/10 and 1/11 are from Nassau Coliseum and are A AUDs. I tried not to let any NY bias influence my selections but whether it did is up for debate. The sources are:

    im prolly gonna do a Godchaux Final Tour Vine though most of the early part of 79 is aud with few sbds and from what I have heard some shows only exist as very rough auds for completists only so unsure if i should include them or not,But this will be once I get everything I have out so since this has been inactive for so long, being inactive a little longer shouldn't be an issue.

The list should be as follows (ripple 1974 wants to be 4th so when he gets the vine he has all 4 shows in WAV) 1. RaymondMBrown 2. Lopezz 3. JackstrawfromColorado 4. ripple1974 5. That Nice Hippy Guy I burned the DVDs (had to use 2, wouldn't all fit on 1) and converted and burned WAV cds for 1/7. Ray should convert and burn cds for 1/8, Lopezz 1/10 and 'straw 1/11.

Who wants it? Great choices for Keith and Donna's last tour. From two of the Dead's hottest East Coast venues. OK, so Derek and I both have NY bias! But these shows are well worth having, especially 1/10-- one of the few shows that I attended that I still recall vividly. "That path is for, your steps alone."

Sorry for the delay. I had to reconstruct this one, but it is going out to Maustin today. Funny, I saw Furthur at Madison Square Garden last week, and it brought back memories of these 79 shows, which I attended and which I believe were the first Garden shows by the Dead. "That path is for, your steps alone."
