A million dollars per soldier per year in Afganistan. 10k to 40k x one million. If we simply divided that amount of money and gave it to the 98% of poorest Afghans I think they might come over to our side.

This is just the money the US will spend to send MORE soldiers to Afghanistan in the next year. I wish to God I was making this up. The obscenity is unfathomable.

This to prop up a corrupt regime that has cranked up the production of raw opium to historical highs? That has addicted it's own population? In a country that not even Alexander the Great could capture?

The poor people of Afghanistan simply want peace after 30 years of almost continual war. The want aid and development projects. They don't want the Taliban or US or Russian or Nato or Coalition or Pakistani troops in their country.

May peace come to that land.
