TigerLilly suggests that (as no doubt befits its somewhat bumpy shakedown phase) our beloved chat room has rapidly evolved a culture, and a distinctive language, of its own, which may be a bit unnerving to new arrivals who left their Babel Fish at home.

So here it is, our very own user-defined and constantly evolving guide to the latest terminology and linguistic trends.

the hx of pine cone

One evening in the chatroom iknowyourider and That Nice Hippy Guy and I were talking and rider said she was tired of lol and how about another word and I said pine cone and then it got shortened to pc.

Here is why pine cones are funny to me. As some of you may know I have a bit of history in the environmental movement including being involved in many protests, direct actions, etc.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's some official in Missouri was proposing some logging in public lands that we were opposing because of habitat issues. So my friend Orin started the pine cone campaign. To express our opposition to this logging plan we sent in pine cones to this official and encouraged others to do also. We wanted his office to be flooded with packages filled with pine cones. I think the idea was for him to stick the pine cones where the sun don't shine.

Hey, we got media, and as the saying goes "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."

And sometime I will talk about the tofu hot dog roast to protest the incineration of radioactive dog carcasses, but that is another story.

If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.
