Dead to the Core
The Kenetic playground totally rocks when Terrapin Flyer and TC play there! Last time I saw them I was amazed with TC and I was litterally standing 10 feet away from TC watching him jam! The music sounded unbelieveably awesome. Chicks getting drunk and dancing till 4 am. The family vibe there is as strong as I've ever felt it anywhere and there's no place I'd rather be on Friday night soaking it all in once again! TC brings the old school Dead back and put life back into the 1960's Dead tunes. Terrapin Flyer are masters at grapping the energy and running with it BIG TIME!!! Tons of fun, hugs, and laughter all night long. Come on out and party with us and check it out for yourself!
All of you Chicago area Heads, get to the Kinetic Playground tomorrow night!! Terrapin Flyer is the best Dead band going in Chicago today!! Plus TC is the man. These guys gel together on stage so well. I saw TC with TF on 4/20 and they blew me away!! If you love the 60's Dead than this is a must see show!! You'll get TC with Terrapin Flyer until 4am and $2 PBR's!! A little bit of heaven on Earth!! Check it out, you will not regret it, I promise!!
Well, let me start this off because it is my honor to be TC's friend and bandmate. First of all, let me say what a wonderfully kind man TC is and a genuine pleasure to get to know. I first got to know him because of a tragic event. I used to also perform with Vince Welnick, as did TC. TC, Bob Bralove and Vince performed as a trio in a band called the Psychedelic Keyboard Trio and there is apparently some of that material being released later by Bralove. They did some amazing stuff including writing a composition for a student orchestra in Michigan. I was making arrangements to perform with the three of them in what would be known as the Psychedelic Keyboard Summit a full band with the three of them on keys. Vince gave me TC's # telling me that he was a wonderfully kind human.
After the tragedy of Vince's passing, I was left in a quandry. What to do with the Vince Welnick & Friends tour that began two weeks after his untimely demise... After significant mourning and contemplation, I called TC to see if he would be willing to fill in for Vince and perform a tribute tour with us. He heartily agreed and the tour was reset into motion. On that tour we dedicated each show to Vince and were able to bring some closure to the loss of our friend and bandmate. The tour ended and we made plans to continue on performing together.
Over the last year we have been performing as both TC & Friends and TC w/Terrapin Flyer (the name of my band) depending on the gig. Getting to know TC has been another incredible experience in my often surreal existence. The man is down to earth and in the stars at the same time. He is kind and assuring and is truly a genius mind. With a quick witted sense of humor and a gift for language, he can entertain as well in conversation as behind the keyboard.
If you'd like to learn more about him, I would recommend his autobiography "Between Rock & Hard Places." Also, he has an extensive discography of a wide variety of music. His CD's where he performs classical music are most astouding to me. His classical chops and knowledge are truly amazing. He also has solo piano releases, and releases with Jorma, Henry Kaiser, Robert Hunter and many others. His talent on the keyboards never fails to push music to new boundries and directions.
This summer you may see TC with my band this Friday June 8th and July 13th at the Kinetic Playground (www.thekineticplayground.com) in Chicago and also performing solo piano on the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of Love Jefferson Starship Tour.
