I first dug New Riders a million years ago when I was a college student in Tampa, Fla. The first album w/Jerry is still the best for me.

Besides David Nelson's excellent songwriting and playing, Barry Sless on lead& pedal steel guitar is something to behold. My only fear is that the band will get too popular and stop playing small, intimate venues!

They'll be playing Stella Blues Cafe on Feb. 23 (restaurant in Kihei that is liberally decorated with Dead and Jerry posters) and then at Charley's in Paia on the 24th.

Looks like Molo will be the drummer with DNB this year instead of Kreutzmann.

BTW, the Kreutzmann, Papa Mali, Hutch Hutchinson, Matt Hubbard lineup that played pre- NYE at Charley's on December 29 was alot of fun. Following that with another jam band of the DNB caliber is fantastic!
