The upcoming Veterans Day and some posts on the subject have reminded me that, counterintuitive though it may be to the hippie-dippy stereotype, a whole lot of our brothers and sisters on the Bus are now serving or have served in the military.

If you're one of 'em, or your family and friends are, please post here!

hey-knowing her, she's won't be doing much resting. Just won't be doing ticket sales. Everyone deserves to retire @ some point. My hubby was in the Sea Bees during Vietnam, by the way.....hope you're all well........If I could only tell how Fridays @ 5pm were at GDTS, you'd all probably get a good laugh..........oh, well......

Good ol GD

Deadhead Paratrooper
My active bus years were from 84-91, god that was fun. I so miss it.

I have been in the Army 17 yrs now and have found a few other ol heads. After touring the country with the dead and seeing that the purple mountain majesty is for real and so many other things I/we did seen experienced and so on. I beileved in defending this great nation so that others could have or so closely have related FUN and life. I joined the Airborne and love it jumping from a perfectly good airplane is an experience, like charging the gate at red rocks or jumping the wall in the meadowlands, getting that last second ticket for free. I think that military heads may have a greater appreciation for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and FUN. I am dissapointed that I missed quite a few shows from 92-95 but I was doing a job. I will retire in three years and plan on hitting the road again for a while. I do get to catch some fests now and then. But just not the same. Anyway If there weren't those that do what we do others would not live the way they do. peaceful and free. There are those that are so anti military radical that they forget where thier right to be as they wish and say what they want came from. So for all grateful people everywhere wave that flag.

In remembrance of Armistice Day, the end of World War 1, and in honor of all you folks past and present, accept this brief note of appreciation for your effort and belief in freedom!

Dead Heads in the Military

well I’m a Military Dead Head, I’m in the Army rank of E4 Specialist I love the Dead and I love my job, some people say you can't be a Dead Head and be in the military and I tell them your job does not define what and who you are as a person but hey they can think all they want about the subject as for me I will keep Dancing!! Let me tell you a little about me I have been in the Army for 3 years now and am feeling the hurt of not seeing and hearing the great music of the Dead in person I am hoping to get to the Dead show in Wilkes-Barre, PA Wachovia Arena @ Casey Plaza but as you all know us Lower Enlisted Soldiers don't get paid a lot and having a 4 month old makes it even harder to see the band that soothes your hart and sole, I just got my order for deployment and it looks like I will we in Iraq by Sep. 2009 and being Infantry it should be interesting but in closing I hope and pray to see you guys at the show lots of love from one Head to another
