Fall 79 Part 1.5 A.K.A Lovin' Rhino Vine

Being the somewhat revised version of the original vine due to the fact that 11/5/79, originally on the vine, has been released as a digital download, and 10/27-28 substituted.

Hey now,

In searching through all the tangles of vines that grace this site I found very few shows from 1979. I have some very quality soundboards from the fall tour of 1979. These shows absolutly rock.

The band sounds so energized with newbie Brent who has such a funky sound with his H-3 and Fender Rhodes. This transition type year for the Dead in which they were pushing Go to Heaven with a lot of Alabama Getaway's, extendo Althea's, but still jamming Passenger, 'Disco' Dancin' in the Streets, and Earth Shattering Other One's. These shows are filled with great 2nd set pre-drums jams that seemed to have a Caution type sound to them. Jerry and Brent seem to hang around well into drums during a lot of the shows.

If anyone is interested in this I have 6 shows that I think will proudly represent this period. I will divide these into two vines as they will be recorded on CDR's and I don't want to send 18 discs.

I did...

Marty,

I was asked about this over a month ago. I assure you, it was sent. If it never arrived, I don't know what to tell you. I did get backed up on vines, but this wasn't one of the outstanding ones. I have 2 that need to get out...More May '77 and French Camp (which I think was actually sent to me early by mistake). That's it. Sorry man - but this is one I'm completely sure of. All the 79 stuff I got was pretty prompt in & out (for ME...which means I may have had it in my possession about 2 weeks before sending it). Sorry for the confusion, but I do not have the CDs in my possession. I checked my home quite thoroughly the last time and I have a pretty solid recollection of putting TNHG's name on a package (it had been awhile since I sent one to him).

That Nice Hippy Guy never received this. I PM'd Pappy to see if he mailed this to him. His post says he did in mid-March. Ugh!

where is this?

Looks like the last post re: this vine is Pappy mailing it to Hippy. I'll PM Hippy and see if he ever got it. I'm sure if he did he sent it on.

I think that MITD and I straightened this out. Pappy has it. He didn't know what vine it was. I filled him in and gave him Hippy's info. He will be sending it on.
