1979 Fall Vine Part One

Hey now,

In searching through all the tangles of vines that grace this site I found very few shows from 1979. I have some very quality soundboards from the fall tour of 1979. These shows absolutly rock.

The band sounds so energized with newbie Brent who has such a funky sound with his H-3 and Fender Rhodes. This transition type year for the Dead in which they were pushing Go to Heaven with a lot of Alabama Getaway's, extendo Althea's, but still jamming Passenger, 'Disco' Dancin' in the Streets, and Earth Shattering Other One's. These shows are filled with great 2nd set pre-drums jams that seemed to have a Caution type sound to them. Jerry and Brent seem to hang around well into drums during a lot of the shows.

If anyone is interested in this I have 6 shows that I think will proudly represent this period. I will divide these into two vines as they will be recorded on CDR's and I don't want to send 18 discs.

Got it--some comments

I got it and it has been mailed to Marty.

I have a couple comments. First, it appears that only 10/27 is seamless. The other 2 shows 11/5 & 11/9 have pre-gaps (1 to 2 seconds) between tracks. It kinda messes up the transition between China -> Ryder and Lighting -> supplication...etc. Not a big dead I guess.

MarkintheDark reported a problem a page or 2 back. I had the same problem . CD #3 of 11/9 has 7 tracks. The 7th track is the US Blues Encore. This song will not copy. I tried a disc copy, and it would hang up at like 93% so I had to just manually copy tracks 1 through 6 as "disc at once." It's almost like CD# 3 was not finalized. Track 7 does not stop at it's time, it just keeps going and going with no sound. It's like the CD does not know when the end of the track is. So I skipped the encore. I use Roxio.

Mark, You gotta have Buffalo, it almost makes me soil myself-

it's so good..... If Stu says disc 3 is fucked I will re-seed you that disc and you can send it to Stu who will wait for it to catch up....if he has no problem how about some kind of trade between you and I? Stu...let me know if it works out for you or not.
