False Alarm, The Only Game In Town
No false alarm here... Name That Tune!!
1982.
I took a poke around that old thread, that is what I saw.
I do remember it was the second set opener, so if you search on deadbase, you can probably pin it down if you feel like it.
peace
for ted, if you really care about what show that was, MAYBE it says so somewhere in this old thread around that page, this is the Day Job round. I do rmember it says the year...

look in there. it will be a while to find that reel. don't hold your breath, brother. I do remember the distinctive orange label on the case, not that that really helps things in the short term.
peace.
yes, ladies and gentlemen.
I cheated by shamelessly repeating a previous round.
(boos and hisses echo through the studio)
I make no apologies, just did what I had to do to kick off another season of Call the Tune!!
Here is the answer to that round.
As a rather weak, humble host of this imaginary game show, rest assured, I know all too well, I can't give up my 'day job' for show business.
peace.
> CC eoj - You left earlier what I must divine as a clue - I don't know how it could possibly be w/ the pandamonium and organized chaos, but ... What is "Attics of My Life"? detacidaed
Not attics, my friend. but plesase start kicking yourself, or "slapping yourself" as you may prefer.
(sung to the tune of Stagger Lee)
deadicated, deadicated, oh sweet deadicated d
how can I tell you, you're as wrong as you can be
don't feel down, please don't frown or be angry with me
the song I played is also not Stagger Lee
way back when, we played a game
you got the right name of the song it be
"notes in the key of A!" you shouted out, you see?
did you forget? what you said, way back when to me?
shall I refresh your memory?

The producers humbly apologise for this shameful re-run.
Who would have thought that an old episode would generate so many wrong answers from the same contestants? well, well, well, your evil, lazy host was kind of hoping so.... This re-run was craftily chosen because it was from the Pirate Show days before we had our own regular channel to broadcast from.
Now, still quite far from my collection of 'reels' we shall, nevertheless, start up season 2 pretty soon.
Season 2 will NOT have any shameless repeats or re-runs.
The host, locked in the green room, is being flogged by noodles for his shameful digression from the directives listed in the Cheezy Game Show Host's Manual of Acceptable Game Show Practices.
Got my ugly polyester sports coat on the hanger, got my hair all slicked back with Vitalis, Season II will arrive in due course.

last chance for everybody with this current round before we start series 2.
please make all guesses in the form of a question.
peace.
ted,
any fan of the TV series Rockford will tell you of the terror and troubles of following false clues.
nope, it is not the song Candyman, but it is rather the clues the board member Candyman left that guided grdaed to the answer.
nope, not the song Candyman, please try again.
enjoy the Radiators. I remember seeing them something like 20+ years ago!!
MEANWHILE!!! where is deadicated??
c'mon buddy, take one more stab at this!
Give me an 'a'
A
peace.
> Hmmm, I used to be the guy at the show who'd call a song at the first note, most of the time.
> I'll follow grdaed73's clue and go with ...Candyman...
> Ramblin' Bears were good last night! The Radiators will be in KC on Wednesday....
you are only cheating yourself.
and boys and girls, you have no idea how I 'cheated' with this round, too.
Deja vu, anybody??

after deadicated makes just one more guess, I'll close this out in another 24 hours or so.
grate minds mr pid, grate minds!
I was initially clueless as well. So go and tell everybody you meet there's only one #1 this round. Look out, look out!
Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.
