Jerry New Weir!
badger!! Jerry Christmas! Rest well! :)
They gave him a bonus for getting that one down.
Hey badger, I've enjoyed reading some of your posts about the open road- so, welcome back. This is the the first time I've seen glimpses of others' lives by what they choose to share.(besides my love affair with books)
Thanks to you all
PEACE
welcome home, and we look forward to hearing your adventures.
nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile
Just got home today with a present for you all!
Turkmenistn TV is very weird….mostly film of the president in meetings, stadiums filled with happy citizens waving flags in unison, stilted folklore shows and endless documentaries about cotton harvesting, tractors and brick manufacturing. HOWEVER I did discover one weekly TV game show. It involves nervous contestants opening home made plywood boxes with photocopied numbers stapled to the doors and answering questions typed on small folded up pieces of paper inside them. Prizes include a Chinese steam iron, plastic flowers and set of aluminium saucepans!
But now look at the this picture of a real Turkmen game show host…despite the vast gulf of continents, cultures and technology he looks..well…. just like a game show host! It seems indeed that wherever they come from they are a breed apart! Ain't it so Joe?
got to sleep now, worn out after 4 flights in the last 24 hours....very confused and jetlagged ..this time yesterday I was in a camel market in the desert in the pouring rain.
will post more pix soon!
now where's my bed
is inching toward 'the nattering nabob" New Years as well, CCj. Safe travels to all in the upcoming weeks and enjoy your times with friends & family.
New Years was most always a special time when we got together with the Dead to celebrate. New Years 30 years ago (1977), I was with my wonderful girlfriend (now wife) and 2 best buddies to see that wonderful Winterland run to greet 1978.
Memories of those times trigger irrepressible grinning and my wish to you all is to share those times and evoke that same sense of fun, joy, and delight during this holiday season.
take care, tim
