Go Ahead, Show Off a Little...
Here's the bulletin board/virtual refrigerator door/etc. for showing and telling about accomplishments you're proud of. Your art. Your graduation. Your promotion. The garden you just planted. Your kid's karate trophy. You get the idea...
congrats to your son and his crew!
My son's team won the German Championship in American Football yesterday, and are now qualified for the European Championship in Turkey! The boys played their fannies off in a very strenuous 2 day tournament, and we are SOOOO proud! :)

I am glad to hear everyone is doing better.
and TL, great news. Hope this year is better for all!
As a novice fisherman, it should be comical to watch me tie flies and actually hook and land a rainbow or brown trout in some beautiful setting. Kevin, I will be in Steamboat later in March to ski; however, the Yampa River runs through downtown and may offer a wading opportunity.
Tiger Lilly: I'm really glad for you and your daughters looking ahead to better times ahead: I'll google Life Improvement on the Solstice. It just might help all of us out!
Thanks Mary and Gypsy Cowgirl for the well-wishes: you know I'll be in contact when I visit northern California.
And heartiest congratulations on your retirement, Ted!

After a completetly catastrophic end to 2010 (4 deaths in 3 months), things are improving so dramatically that I can barely believe it. I keep pinching myself to make sure that it is true, and not some dream that I will wake up from right back in the same old nightmare. Also I am happy to say that my daughter is pulling out of her year of sickness and loss-depression, and is back to focusing on school and going foreward. We are going to have a Give Thanks for Life Improvement Fest on the Spring Solstice this year.

Enjoy your fishing!
Let's see...Mary Jane, that's Winter Park, no?
I'm thinking about retiring so I can listen to the E72 Box.
I'm going to Steamboat this summer - it's going to be odd with no snow. I'll be training there because three weeks later is the SF 1/2 marathon. I did it last year and it about killed me - guess I'm a glutton for punishment! (My oldest daughter will be with me and hopefully she'll get me through with a little less agony).
Have to say I'm a bit envious. Enjoy!!!

http://www.jerrygarciaguitar.com
June 5th-12th on eBay we will auction of a Jerry Garcia guitar we nicknamed Lucky #13. Virtually all proceeds of this auction will go to benefit Amicus Foundation (Matthew Kelly, Bob Weir). Can you please help us spread the word? Maybe a news item on your website, or a mention in your Twitter accounts?
Briefly;
This is an authenticated Jerry Garcia guitar made by the guitar building masters at Alembic: serial number #72-13, custom made for Jerry Garcia in 1972, the thirteenth instrument made by Alembic.,
June 5th at 7PM PST we will start the auction for this guitar on eBay. Virtually all proceeds from this auction will go to benefit Amicus Foundation. Amicus is dedicated to helping children at risk, developing educational opportunities and working with impoverished communities in Thailand.,
The guitar is steeped in history. In the early days of the Grateful Dead, Alembic, under Stanley "Bear" Owsley's inspiration, was making instruments and PAs that pushed the envelope, experimented with new ideas and were built as road worthy as possible using military grade electronics. Things that had never been done before with a guitar or bass were accomplished by Alembic. This guitar embodies all those qualities, especially the electronics. For example, there is an inline analogue filter with resonance that can really provide a truly unique sound.
Jerry Garcia gave this guitar to Matthew Kelly during a recording session of "A Wing and A Prayer". Matthew in turn has donated the guitar to Amicus for auction. , Lots of photos and all the info you need concerning the guitar, the auction and Matthew's relationship with the extended GD family can be viewed here:, http://www.jerrygarciaguitar.com
