but that's Charlie...not What's His Name.

This isn't a forum for advertisements, and even if it was, you've obviously not done your demographic studies.
Question: where does Rob Leinstein from GD Channel on Sirius get his complete concerts? There's been some gems on there recently....ala 7/24/87 Oakland....Where's the love for '87? They were smokin and well rehearsed that summer. Need some '87 shows out there in whatever format possible. To my knowledge, the only official '87 release was "Ticket to New Year's DVD. Anyone? Bueller?
a while back I posted Stu's request for info, corrections, etc. in the setlist corrections topic in the forums, so if you've got any, post 'em, as Stu's checking the topic.
I don't believe for a minute it needs to be compiled. Are you trying to say Mr. Lemieux doesn't have the vault on his desktop in 2010? C'mon, a few mouse clicks and keystrokes and it's another feature of this site...
about Deadbase, Maybe I could sell my old ones and buy about 20 of the new ones with the prices people are asking for on Amazon, but are they selling them or do they just sit there with those high prices?

That would be Mr. Lemieux.
I, too, would like to see a new deadbase. I believe at this point that Deadbase is a kind of stealth index of the vault
As far as there being no incentive for them to put an index out there: I've already pointed out that it certainly would not be in their interest, neither Rhino or of the band, to publish it.
Further, I don't believe for a minute it needs to be compiled. Are you trying to say Mr. Lamieux doesn't have the vault on his computer in 2010? C'mon, a few mouse clicks and keystrokes and it's another feature of this site... which it most certainly should be.
I'd pay $500 to have access and download anything I want, such as it is, from the vault. I'd still pay money for what Mr. Norman does, certainly his superior work on the recent Road Trips release is worth it.
and Stu Nixon is working on a new DeadBase as we speak.
What is the financial incentive for there to be a vault index? There is no return on the time spent. So here is an idea. Form a nonprofit (arts and education), you have to have a board and board meetings, register with the state. Your mission statement can be to index the vault. Work it out with the powers that be at Rhino, some friendly insiders that convince Rhino it is in their interest to have this service done free by the nonprofit. Get folks like yourselves to make donations to the nonprofit and hire someone (with Rhino cooperation) to do this. Maybe have someone who is already an insider do this. But they are not going to do it for free. I myself am more interested in seeing a new DeadBase with all the splinter groups in it and the Dead and Furthur, Ratdog, Phil, etc. Also new editions of the Grateful Dead Listening Guide.

Not a lot there, but noticed they're offering up some complete shows for DL, and some incomplete shows, and for not a lot of $ imho.
View From The Vault III is 87.
