The dude who bought Jerry's assorted household effects -- the same guy who auctioned off the toilet last year -- is now auctioning off everything else, including the kitchen sink. And before you say anything snarky, because lord knows I did, keep in mind that the proceeds benefit a fine charity here in Oakland, one for which my own dogsitter also throws fundraisers!
So, while I am not in the market for Jerry's sink, here's the info.
got turned off because of some bug-related issue, but the specifics are lost in my fuzzy brain at the moment. they may be back.
Meanwhile if you really WANT something edited, lemme know; mods have more toys. Er, tools.
if they'll come a day wher they will put an edit button so as we can edit our posts..
Interesting take Krummhorn. I agree Tiger was unique
with a very distinctive sound, like the Wolf..
some good poins..
I think "soundwise" for the most part "Tiger" had the sweetest sound. It had that signiture "bell tone" that was just beautiful. The later Tiger spin-offs like Rosebud and Lightning Bolt were not as pure tone wise, even when the midi effects were not being used. I think he was using the Graham Nash Strat (Alligator) during my favorite shows of 71', but I'm not sure. There were a few other guitars he used in 71' as well. But whatever it was he was using during the Fillmore East shows really allowed Jerry to reach the stratosphere (no pun intended) in those jams.
I was 16 years old when i saw a tag on a Travis Bean guitar w/ a picture of Jerry on it saying "Travis Bean The best damn production guitar made today" In Roosevelt Feild Mall on Long island!! Two week's later i saw him playing one @ The Calderone Concert Hall In Hempstead NY and the opening Sugaree Blew me away and I've been loving that sound ever since !! But i think it was jerry's approach to the different guitars that has made him my favorite guitarist of all time! Oh how i wish i had bought that Travis Bean back in the day!!Rogue
That piece by Patti Smith was sweet!
Thanks fer sharing that link with us marye!
RODGER ALLINSON i saw some input on jerrys guitars while in my opinion everything jerry played was truely magic i have a true love of rosebud and the sond of some of my favorite jerry tunes like "stella blue" "comes a time" china doll' AND those type songs on it i like to sit and listen to how different guitars over the years have their own unique signature on the same tunes
Patti Smith, who's something of a legend herself, posted this last year, and I think it's one of the most amazing things ever written on Jer:
