In support of the above facts

I offer this evidence - 10/21/71 Chicago.

The defense rests.

agreed

Right on badger or at times he just pounds the keys like Jerry Lee Lewis check out Run Rudolph Run from Ann Arbor, don't remember the year. But that whole show. Keith was the man at times. He reinvigorated the band when he came on board.

forgotten man

I have been listening to a lot of 72/73/74 lately and the extraordinary contributions of Keith shine through again and again. They way he and Garcia play together at times is almost telepathic, not simply trading licks but turning synchronised somersaults. And when Keith is in the mood on Dark Star or Let in Grow or PITB he can sound like McCoy Tyner or Keith Jarrett or anyone he wants too. There are times when the whole band heads off into Miles territory and Keith is always in the thick of it.

How or why he lost his way I don't fully know, but its a shame he gets so little attention.

Death

Googled him, Gypsy Soul, and only found text on several sites saying that he was killed in a car accident in Marin County-no further details or anything.
