    Beandip
hello grateful dead family. My brother's name is Beandip. He is in jail. I don't know much about this world or the gdf. Beandip says and does a lot of crazy and stupid things. I don't know how to separate the fact from fiction. Here's what I do know. He's been traveling the country with many different people for the past year. Now he is locked up in Florida with a $100,000 bail. my mother doesn't give a shit. My father is just as worried as me. But neither of us has anything close to the amount of money that is needed to help Beandip. He has been warned many times that this would happen but he thought he was invincible. it wasn't all his decisions that got him in this. There were many other people in the family that helped do this to him. I need to find the people that he's been with so they can help me pay for a lawyer. Honestly, I don't give a shit about anyone else in the world right now besides my brother. If nobody will help me willingly I will be forced to use leverage in many different ways. please, if you know Beandip, or if you don't, call me. send money. please help me save my brother, i love him. eric 770-378-9417 145 flat creek ct fayetteville, ga 30214

    Incarceration
I dont know where to begin, but alas I will begin with what is first and foremost on my mind. I have maintained that lady liberty, the symbol of fair and equal justice with the scales and blindfolded, is not blindfolded to weigh the evidence our Constitution insures for every American as being fair and balanced, but to shield her eyes from the true injustice and corruptness that is the American judicial system. There is a convention in Las Vegas annually to show off and sell the latest in correctional technology and its offspring, where people and companies sell thier wares in the area of "corrections" or best put incarceration. I find this appalling, unabashidly shameful as a reflection of our society. The business of incarceration is sickening. Lets go a step further. In an industry, there is a need for raw materials. In this business, this is fresh souls to enter the correctional system. In our area, rural South Carolina, I watched with disgust as counties fought over providing the best package for a new state prison. I actually believe our community leaders stood in a picture with silver shovels breaking ground, all smiles, proud of thier accomplishment for bringing the new prison industry to our area. An institution of intolerable pain and hell, covered by the media's portrayal of how much the prison will contribute to the local economy. I watch as those who are without economic means represented by public defense, in a backlogged system, plea to charges once given the ultimatum of taking a plea versus a trial. Would I want to stand in front of a jury in a courtroom if I were innocent and risk the ultimatum of prison time or my freedom with restrictions regardless of my innocence or guilt? This segues to the affluent or those with financial resources who can afford the better legal representation. One of our elected officials was caught (Ravenel, Charleston SC) a few years ago with I cant remember but some ungodly amount of cocaine. Lets say it was over a kilogram, Im not sure but it was in the federal trafficking tier. His story was he was addicted to cocaine, never sold any, but gave it away (!) for years before getting caught. He served eight months in prison and was disbarred. Anyone else would be looking at 20-30 years. This story is just one of many, one that each one of us can dwelve into our mindbank and recall such injustice that has happened to close friends or perhaps ourselves. The corrections system is looking for fresh souls, for it is a business. An industry. The judicial system and its process can be manipulated by money, tilting the scales in one's favor. There is no equal justice in this land. Never has been, never will be. This is the cold, hard truth. Once our area secured the state prison, the Federal Bureau of Prisons decided they would want to build a federal prison in our area. I know the owner who had 400 acres of farmland and was reluctant to sell to the governement for he was farming the land. He asked for $2500.00 an acre for $600.00 farmland and they counteroffered at $2000.00 an acre. He, being fortunate as being financially secure, decided he did not want to sell the land. The government then in a meeting advised him that he should consider the $2000 an acre as generous as the government has the power to seize land for projects under the right of eminent domain, a provision where a fair market value is determined by the government and the land is seized and used for purposes of "progress". When confronted with $1000 or less an acre, he was forced to sell, stating he could not nor was willing to fight the government. Thus, another new prison was established. The shovels came out again, and another "industry" came to our area. Not much is said about what goes on behind those walls, except through the highly trained PR bunch that meets regularly with local leaders and tells of all the "good things" the prison and inmates are doing for the community and themselves. On the other hand, inmates who are released tell of horrors I dare not repeat. Smoke and mirrors, courtesy of our government. I am scared of our government. I am not ashamed to admit it. One day, perhaps in our lifetime, maybe in another generation, those of us who have been through the system for non violent crimes as defined by law will have our names cleared and be martyrs for the cause of personal freedom. The marijuana movement is struggling to find its identity in 13 states as of this writing, which is a good step forward. I have a friend who has a simple possession from 1986 and this keeps him still from obtaining employment that he is so capable of. Something 25 years ago, another person ago, one who is a model citizen by many standards, only to have his life and ability to do so much defined by the possession of a quarter ounce of grass 25 years ago. One day it will all change. I pray it will. Too many good people, so many people, first time offenders whose lives are ruined over these draconian laws. These laws create jobs, and the X is on our head as to who is next. There is a price for our freedom, unfortunately the price and punishment far outweigh the seriousness of the crime in so many cases. Its big business, folks. Deadheads represent true Americans, ones that follow thier heart and are not afraid to venture outside the self contained societal box, to live life as one truly believes and values the freedom of ones actions, while cautiously dancing with the excessive price that some of our actions may restrict those freedoms we endure so bravely.

    Help Really Needed
ATTENTION ALL FAMILY: A great kid needs your help! I'm Mindy, my fiance Chris from Conneticut, one of the kindest realiest kids was popped on some old warrants on the way into Moe DOWN, Chris has had some very bad luck in his life. He has spent the past 2 years in the hospital, he has had 2 open heart surgerys, a heart attack and a stroke at 27, all caused by an abbcessed tooth. I thought because of his medical conditions they wouldn't keep him in jail, but they came down from a 9 month sentence or 5k fine to 90 days or 1k fine, but he isn't getting the medical attention he needs, I have to get him out. Fortunately for me some great family, Woodstock Ron from Utica took me in. but we haven't been able to come up with the bail money. I need to get him out as soon as possible and was hoping that if any of you kind dead folks here could help out with donations it would be gratefully appreciated. Any amount will help and would be payed forward. You can send donations to Mindy Riffle at 1610 Sunset ave. Utica Ny. 13502. I hope that we can get Chris out, get him to his many doctors, get him some rest and then see you all on November tour. Forever Grateful, Mindy

    Thanks J, two letters mailed!
Rudd Walker, May the Light & Love of the universe shine on you! May medical care be quickly received! May your sentence either be changed or you be pardoned by the governor of your state or the current president. 2 people given life for this? My God! What a barbarian society we live in. All medicine has it's drawbacks, but didn't we take care of our own? What happened to Rudd is just plain mean and stupid. I don't know how old he is but say he spends 20 years in jail. The guvmt. is saying, trial included, that this person was such a menace society needed to spend a million dollars to deprive him of his freedom. Please, please, please -- whoever reads this send two letters as suggested by J today for this person! Just think of what you learned and the fun you had...

Tour Kid Get LIFE in prison for LSD Conspiracy
Hi Everyone!I posted this on another board and we are really trying to get the word out on this. I am going to try to buy a web domain and hosting next month when I get paid so that we can post up pics, documents and info on his case. Rudd is one of us and if you knew him - and I'm sure lots of us did, you may not even realize what happened - here is what was posted - PLEASE - If you have time, write to the brother - you can even do it online and someone will mail a physical letter for you (web address for that below); lots in this thread;http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12509855 My friend Rudd got caught up in an LSD conspiracy charge a few years back and the US Gov't gave him a life sentence. He was never actually caught with any LSD and was convicted based on the testimony of 11 witnesses (some federal agents). The case is really a truly sad one - that they would lock anyone up for life for LSD is unthinkable, and I believe only one other person was given this harsh a sentence, William Leonard Pickard. There used to be a copy of his appeal online, now I can only find a synopsis here; (lots of details) http://ca10.washburnlaw.edu/cases/2006/05/05-5127.htm I'm posting this to spread awareness of his case. He's a good guy, but has lost everything. If anyone reading this has time to write him a letter, share some words of kindness or whatever, here is his info - Roderick Walker #13615-055 USP Hazelton PO Box 2000 Bruceton Mills WV 26525-2000 http://prisoninmates.com/inmates_detail.php?inmat_id=891 http://friends4lifers.org/inmates/roderickwalker13615055.htm Voice For Inmates converts all of messages sent, confidentially into a printed format and sends them out regular mail. You can send inmate Roderick J. Walker # 13615-055 a message FREE! no stamps needed. VFI (Voice For Inmates) will be happy to mail it out for you. We send all messages out at the end of the week. RUDD IS ALSO IN DIRE NEED OF MEDICAL ATTENTION - HOW YOU CAN HELP Of course we would love for you to write to Rudd directly, shine a little light on him - he needs it! A more pressing concern is that he is not being given any treatment for severe medical needs - this is inexcusable as he is in custody and has no options other than what the systems gives him, please read below and help if you can - thanks!!!! Who you can write to regarding Rudd's medical issues: H. Boyles, Health Services Manager USP HAZELTON U.S. PENITENTIARY P.O. BOX 450 BRUCETON MILLS, WV 26525 email: HAZ/EXECASSISTANT@BOP.GOV Ike Eichenlaud, Director of Health Services Federal BOP Mid Atlantic Regional Office 302 Sentinel Drive, Suite 200 Annapolis Junction, MD 20701 phone: 301-317-3100 RADM Newton E. Kendy, MD, Director of Health Services Federal BOP Central Office 320 First Street NW Washington DC, 20534 phone: 202-307-3198 here is the letter i wrote, feel free to change it: To Whom It May Concern: 5/28/2010 It has come to my attention that Inmate # 13615055, Roderick Walker, is in dire need of medical attention, but is not receiving care at USP Hazleton. I am writing to inquire as to why he is not receiving medical care. It is my understanding that he was injured in an altercation with a Prison Guard which re-fractured his lumbar spine, and since he has not received medical care for this; a blood clot has formed which is affecting his heart, that he is confined to a wheel chair and not receiving any treatment for either condition, which cause him to suffer in pain constantly. On your website it states: “The Bureau provides essential medical, dental, and mental health (psychiatric) services by professional staff in a manner consistent with accepted community standards for a correctional environment.” I would think it is “consistent with accepted community standards for a correctional environment” to provide an inmate medical services for injuries sustained while in your correctional environment. To not do so appears to be inhumane abuse on the part of you and your staff. Please advise on this matter, and understand that I will be following up on Mr. Walkers medical issues, as long as he is in your custody. there are Tens of thousands people in the USA locked up for non-violent first offender crimes.many of them simply stepped into a trap set up by the DEA,others where at the wrong time at the wrong place, but as anyone knows the mandatory minimum sentencing has sent these people into jail for tens of years, sometimes for life.IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY WHO IS LOCKED UP,THAN YOU CAN PUT HIS PRISON ADRESS HERE (with his 100% agreement,of course)ON THIS PAGE! AND ANYONE WHO WANTS TO SEND A LITTLE LIGHT TO A DEAD-HEAD LOCKED UP IN HELL ,THAN YOU CAN DO SO.NEVER FORGET,THAT FOR EVERY BROTHER AND SISTER WHO IS IN PRISON,SOMEONE ELSE IS FREE.....

AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE AINT NO CHATROOMS,COMPUTERS AND OTHER STUFF BESIDE A TELEPHONE IN PRISON.SO TO HELP A PERSON GETTING INTO CONTACT WITH THE OUTER WORLD MEANS PUT HIS ADRESS ON THIS PAGE AND THAN LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO SEND A LITTLE LIGHT BY A HANDWRITTEN LETTER.I MIGHT REPEAT MYSELF,BUT THE ONES WHO ARE SITTING IN ARE THE ONES WHO CUT THE SNITCH-CHAIN..AND NOW THEY PAY THE PRICE.THIS CAMPAIGN IS NOT MY IDEA,IT WAS STARTED BY A SPECIAL EDITION OF RELIX IN THE EARLY 90S,CALLED:HEADS BEHIND BARS....ONLY WRITTEN LETTERS CAN BRING A LITTLE LIGHT INTO THE HELLHOLES WHERE OUR FELLOW DHs MIGHT SERVE THE REST OF THEIR LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here is a lil bit about his story. My brother Troy, who is one of use and one of the kindest souls you will ever meet.He would consider you family the second he meet you and would give you the shirt off his back and the sneakers off his feet when he meet you if you needed them.He shares the love for the Grateful Dead as we all do. Him and his girl friend were set up buy someone they thought was there friend, this person had gottin busted with some LSD.The cops told him if he would help them that he would go free. The kid agreed to help them, and set up three buys with a undercover dea enforcment officer. The officer got a warent and the apartment was raided.A lil over a half gram of LSD was found.Troy being the person he is tried to claim it all for his own,so Tyra(his girl) would not get into any trouble. The cops did not want to hear that. They both were charged and convicted.Since they would not be come RATS,NARCS or not set any one else up under the promise of a "LESSER SENTENCE" he recievd 13 years and her 12. They are both just a few years into this sentence and though they are doing as good as they both can be under this BS.They are missing the scene and family and music terrably so.And not surprising that many ppl have not writtin or tried to do anything for them.I am not askin for any one to give money or buy them anything but it would mean so much to them, and what we take for granted every day they do not have,If any one even if it is just one person could take two or three min. to write a letter aboutr the familer things that they so miss(music) I am sure that it would mean the world to them.Just to let them know that there are kind ppl that even though they might not know still care. There are way to many of are brothers and sisters in prison for non violent crimes. And are govrnmnt spends way to much $ every year on keeping these ppl locked up while the real crimanls walk free (MUDERS,RAPISTS,MOLESTERS ECT...)sO IF YOU CAN FIND THE TIME TO WRITE JUST A SIMPLE LETTER IT WOULD MEAN SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGIN. HIS PRISON ADDY: TROY RICHARD WILLIAMS #A527-230 P.O. BOX 7010,UNIT 8A, CELL 263 CHILLICOTHE, OH ,45601 He also asked me for some photographs of the good old days.If you have any pictures of the boys(Jerry,Bobby,Phil,Billy,Mickey,Brent,Pig,Donna,Keith) That you could spare.(he can receive three per letter) it would MAKE HIS YEAR and his time a LIL BRIGHTER.Also any pics of the lot scene. He says he has no one in there to relate to (no deadheads)witch in his word"is kinda a good thing cause that means they are not locked up" so this would help more then you could no. If you do write to him just tell him that you got his addy from me~~~Bear~~~ I will post Tyra's addy soon as recieve it.PLEASE SHOW SOME LOVE AND TAKE TWO OR THREE MIN. TO WRITE .WHAT TAKES YOU JUST MOMENTS WILL GIVE HIM A SMILE FOR WEEKS. And remember that even though you might not no him we all share the same thing incommen (The Grateful mother frickin Dead)

as I recall there are some rather specific rules of what can and can't go in prisoner mail, so if you have those regulations handy and could post them, that would be great. So sorry for your brother and his girlfriend's trouble.

be careful what you post ... with this kind of imformation it would not be dificult to hack into the prisons computers .. before you know it your freinds are out of jail and they find their identity stolen... no credit, warrents for stuff they did not do ect..ect .. should I go on ...and why does a person in a foreign land worry so much about American inmates ? something is wrong here ...this also seems to be scaring people away from the famillies forum .. just be carefull folks ....

there is nothing wrong with Frankly worrying about American inmates, any more than there was something wrong with us cheering the demonstrators in Wenceslas Square back in the day. That said, yes, I agree about posting personal information here. There's good and bad, and no easy answers, but people can make their own decision on the subject.

Why does a person in a foreign land listen to american music?because that person might like it! and why does he care about american inmates.like i wrote above this campaign was started in the days when RELIX was still a 100% DH-mag.they made a special edition about this problem and there where tons of adresses from people sitting in.a person who is in jail for who dont know how long is in every federal computer,...or you are afraid that i might steal regular US-prisoners out of their cells?P.S:i tried to explain it all above......

Stuman!! What kind of question is that "why does a person in a foreign land worry so much about inmates?" I think you owe Frankly an apology for that nasty bit of suspicious mind, about a very good and humanitarian idea.********************************** Don't part with your illusions. Identity`s are stolen all the time , Badger , TL, i think you took this in the wrong context. and look at Frankly`s post , the type and font is completley different ,he never writes in ALL CAPS , i beleive i have good reason for suspition.. now if you have freinds or familly in prison and they would like to have some pleasent mail , i think their names and addressess should be relay`d via PM`s . for their own protection ..can you imagine coming out of prison and being stalked by anti-drug people or finding that someone else has a drives liscens in their name . or apply for credit and have bad credit even though they have been in prison for years and years . having bank accounts and bad cheks being writen , then the arrest warrents start , for something that they did NOT do . just think about it , thats it just think about it .. protect the ones who can`t protect themselves...

..Frankly the suspicious foreigner has set this thing up so he can steal the identities of prisoners? I just checked and there are loads of websites where inmates openly post their names and prison addresses so people can write to them. I agree 100% with the need to be cautious and not do anything without the permission of the inmates, but I really don't think Frankly has bad intentions.

Stuman, you should not worry, as the information that has been posted about Troy (and might be posted about other inmates in the future) is public information that can be found many different ways. Inmate information is not considered private, and so can be found on the internet or with a simple phone call to any facility. Having somebody's name is not enough to steal an identity. Having somebody's prison address will definitely not do it, as credit card companies aren't likely to extend credit to someone in prison. So, please, don't worry, if your family in prison wants letters written to them, posting their address here will not bring harm to their credit in the future.

Mark was into some pretty, petty stupid shit. His karma got way shitty down Virginia Beach way and the bubble finally popped in a 7/11 where he got nailed shoplifting a carton of smokes. He had a a plastic fork or some such stupid shit on him and waved it in the general direction of the clerk who was going to detain him. When The Man whistled up in his cop shop Mark was dead meat. He could have plead out with time served but for some ridiculous reason he decided he wanted a jury trial. The judge laughed at him after the guilty verdict and gave him 13 years like he was handing out a lollipop. Mark did 13 years in a _____ jail full of loonies. It was the main distribution point for drugs in three counties, from the inside! He got gang raped because he didn't join a gang and had no protection. He got Hep C and other medical problems that wern't treated worth crap. The only reason he made it was because he could pick against the spread in all 4 major sports and he became the book who made the cards and set the line and held the cash. Nobody screwed with him after that. So he did his 13 and got out but he ain't a whole man anymore. Mark is living on the street this winter in_____ and Crohn's disease is kicking his ass. If anybody could send some love and light his way it would be much appreciated, I offered my place to crash and even to pay for some shows for him but he just wants to do his 12 step line dance. I hope he makes it through the winter.... Thanks for whatever you can menatlly do for a poor, down-and-out brother.

hey, i just got back in town after being sent to state prison for violating my dui program. i am almost home now after 15 months of bullshit. this page on the forums just blew my mind. yes, please keep all those people in your hearts and minds and prayers or whatever because prison is a very lonely, ugly, terrible place. i missed all my friends here on the site, but had no real way of letting you all know where i was or that i was even alive. this is a wonderful thing. i also suggest that anyone who knows anyone that is locked up, post their info so they can get some mail. i would get so bummed when the C.O. would go by my cell and i had no mail coming in. that is a very lonely crappy feeling. don't forget them while they are away. they need all the support we can give 'em. peace nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile

hi folks..new to web/site & takin time to trawl thru all the pages & i came across this thread re: keeping contact with our bros/sisters uder the "Stripedskies" (IIII) i can vouch ,even in UK (Am English) that any kinda contact with freedom/sanity can but do only GOOD under the circs. What can raise a wry smile behind a cell door can diffuse situ's that so often get outa hand, so its not just chatting bout shows, music ,etc, tho grate to read ,but jus KNOWIN?FEELIN that y'not alone there is otherones thinking about them...a letter takes but a few moments to write but the effect can be measured in years folks, & hey y'all pay hundred's for tickets etc ..but most like to get high one way or anutha...somebody made y'high available somewhere down the line....what price a stamp????

My sugar mag of the last 12 yrs is locked up....again. It seems it's either her or me,we suffer for it,all the people who love us do as well. Prison is a long way from the answer, just another form of corporate greed my friends. I say that she is a prisoner of war because thats exactly what she is, the drug war peopole. The war in this country is one that will never be won, only lost on all fronts. She and I both have stuggled with heroin addiction for the last ten years, and I've done enough time to know that every time that I go in that the H will still b there when the doors fly open and I'll not have learned nothing from being locked up because thats not what the prison system is designed to do, only to hold us until its time to go home and time to give the # to another. All we can really do is love the people that are gone for now and to try and be supportive and know that every day is one day closer to when my baby will be home again. Jus really sux that you are gonna miss the tour, our heads behind bars- and especially my AIM. Miss and love you baby girl, the MUSIC NEVER STOPPED, and I know that reading this put a smile on your face. Stay strong fellow heads and heads of people who are really and truly nothing more than P.O.W.'s If you are the big tree than we are the small axe...........

Ditto what marye said! I had a dui about 9 years ago now. It sucked, no prison time, but probation and no drinking for 2 years. I like my beer, but not quite as much as I did before the dui. Good luck!Peace

Yesterday I learned 31 people were arrested on august 18th around show at Merryweather Pavillion .So my question to you deadheads in America is :do you have yet a network of lawyers or whatever to help liberated /freed in such situations ? I mean ,if you can buy tickets ,travel ,buy dope ,several thousands deadheads could pool 20 dollars each/per years ,to help those arrested getting fair hearing in court ,and such , and have a deadhead lawyer find best contacts to free your kin arrested ? It bother me you all have networks for just about everything except that ,or am I not informed about it ?

sadly, its not a lucrative business to defend deadheads. Thats why lawyers dont already have em all solicited, like they jump at you if you're accused of a crime and have money. I mean, they have signs all over if you need legal help for your DUI. If you were driving your car, they know you have some dough. Who wants to volunteer for a plea bargain when there's no money? Lets face it, the system is designed to completely discriminate against poor folks. And if you just got popped with quantity, you probably don't have money if you even did before. and one day, the world will recognize (if it hasnt already) that how our country has locked up Deadheads, for nonviolent pursuit of our dionysian religion, is an injustice. One day it will be viewed the same way as laws that persecute against homosexuality and other personal forms of behavior that don't hurt other people. because what this is, is religious persecution. in a way. well, at least you need something to believe in right? Here in our community, weve got it al, so THANK you everyone, from the band and the crew to the Whart Rats to those who pursue rapturous abandon in the total experience of losing yourself through psychedelic drugs and music. The great thing about this community is that the sole bonding glue has always been MUSIC. That's the one thing that holds it all together. That, and our prevailing philosophy: a combination of the golden rule and the concept of total freedom. This is America. Your mind, your soul, your spirit, these are yours and yours alone to give to the vision of destiny that you please. We will not tell you how to live your life. You may get help when you need it. You may need to help yourself. Here, in our circle, everything happens. There's too much divergence for seeemingly anything to hold it together.... but the MUSIC.... We NEED to hold together, people, to survive. Maybe we could define ourselves, protect ourselves, legally. Just a thought. Certainly no philosophy could protect our freedom in the current system.... what would be the classification? It has to be more serious than bob dobbs but what, what could we be? Are we just a freak of nature? Is our "experiment" in group consciousness and music just a little blip on the map of a history of persecution? Is this our one shot at getting it together? If so we gotta get it together, people, join together in our love for this music, get together whenever it's happening. I hope folks have written to the people who are incarcerated. I remember this from the back of Relix and I wrote a letter once many years ago and I wish I could remember who it was even to :) Reading about more folks today, two decades later it is really continuing to bum me out but I send my prayers and thoughts to the families and friends of those incarcerated, because they are doing time too. And I'm going to get to writing another letter. Love and Blessings, keep that Fire burning in your heart, because We are It, We are on our own...

i understand that u have seen the Relix which was the inspiration for this site.i personally would prefer to design our DH community as a dionysian cult.religion is allways causing trouble for someone,..but sure help them poor people who get 10yrs.for some ounces of .........,that was what the Rex foundation was for,so it might be better to write someone locked up and show him that outside there are people who see this as a bigtime problem and far worse,it is unjust that a non-violent 1st offender stays in that hole until the last minute, while agressive, dangerous individuals are released on parole just to make place for another poor guy who was caught with...rollin papers.Peace and Love to u all in the hellholes of justice and maybe a little effort from all of u who avoided disaster, maybe because your buddy was no snitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry Evestar,i just read your post and than my reaction to it which was a little harsh, because i perfectly see your point of Hundreds of thousands bein spend for the fun-side of a concert visit, but barely any for them poor dudes who stepped into uncle sams iron traps.well,but...who would be the one to take care of such a pool of money which should be used for legal help. And how to avoid that a good percentage of such donations disappears in the administrative costs for a project like this. You see questions over questions.....;[ But i remember that the GOGD used to give a not negligable part of dollars to the REX Foundation which served as a gathering place for some people who where personally touched by this problem [for ex. Mothers against mandatory minimums, and others..],so maybe they are still doin this today. It is just a question of getting oneself informed...!!!!!!As for our DH buddies in jail,..i think that most of them have families who fight a bitter battle against windmills to get their loved ones out,....so the conclusion is the same.If you have a friend who suffers like this do NOT forget about him.write him/her,because a letter coming with the wake up call is like a ray of sunshine entering your cell.Peace and Love to all of ya........................

... between being poor and black in a ghetto and being popped w/4 ounces of crack and being a rich, white corporate executive popped w/4 ounces of powder? It's all coke right? Wrong! The black guy gets roughed up during arrest and gets thrown into the worst hell-hole imaginable and takes forever to go before a judge. They may or may not get a phone call. They are denied or cannot pay bail. They remain in prison until a prosecuting attorney is forced by time constraints to get to the case and offer a plea bargain that the black has no choice but to take (the choice is the absolute max. should they plead not-guilty and go for a jury trial where they will be absolutely railroaded anyway). The white guy is taken through a back door, unhandcuffed to an unmarked car where he is transported to a station for processing. He calls a very good lawyer already on retainer who runs down and throws his bail. The guy might spend the afternoon in jail. Depending on how tight the case is against him, he probably pleads out to a charge of simple possession and for a first offence probably gets a suspended sentence, maybe a fine and maybe community service. He probably doesn't lose his job and when he goes back to work he probably gets twice as rich because everybody knows what he does for a sideline. ~ Oh ain't that America for you and me? ~ ~ Ain't that America? Home of the free? ~ ~ Little pink houses for you and me! ~

anyone sellin' any kind of white powder needs to be hammered, i don't care what their economic disposition is, that shit is baaaad juju, poison!! and anyone who commits a violent crime should have an extended stay also. that being said, why do we lock up the poor kid smokin' a joint, but let the rapists, and murderers, and pedophiles out?....makes no sense that i can see, or am i being too harsh?

The point was not the substance but the way people with or without money are treated in our criminal justice system.

again, i was just venting....still, i do think they need to release people who are locked up on stupid charges like pot possession, it would definitely decrease the prison population, which can't hurt and would certainly save a TON of money not to mention bettering the lives of those incarcerated.

''dont do the crime if you cant do the time''yes, very wise old sayin. And of course i agree that every brutalo dealer of i dont know what powders should stay in a cell together with a 300 pound 6 feet tall pedophile.but that is not really the point.if you look back to swans post there one can read that at a recent concert 31 DHs has been arrested.so the game is goin on and as Furthur will hit the road many more people might find themselves in very uncomfortable situations.i think there is no place for jokes here because the people this is about, might be sittin beside you at the gig, share a doobie and get busted with some more doobies afterwards.but that you might not notice....well,i am just a stupid eurohead and after all this aint my problem, because the slammed prisons are over the ocean!!!

my point being, that they shouldn't be lockin' up some poor kid just smokin' a doobie, when there are genuine baddies out walkin' the streets....and i have NEVER said you were stupid...love ya too much for that...peace brother
