it is the airport embassys suites. I stayed at the downtown ones for phil at the riviera in '07 though.. almost got kicked out. :-o
I haven't been to a Chicago show before so I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone know how funny the Arena is about cameras, etc.? Earlier post about Shakedown Street - any word on where? I'll be staying with friends (they're not hitting the show) for the weekend before, but hate to be stuck sitting all day Monday waiting for the lovelight to shine on down...
I'm staying at the Extended Stay Deluxe on Touhy Avenue. It looks like it's just a block or two from the arena. The rate is $89 a night and it has a kitchenette....if that's the kinda thing you're looking for. I chose this place because it appears to be next to a park with a big lake. Maybe there will be some good views and some kind grass there to enjoy. Look on the map, the hotel is within walking distance of the park that is northwest of the arena.
glad i was able to score $50 tickets cuz im broke and their not behind the stage so it will be groovy to see yall i think they will open the lot a little earlier than most shows the did that in 03
peace be the journey....Cool Runnings
Am going to both shows. Got an e-mail that my tix for 5/5 have been shipped but no word on the 5/4 tickets.
Anyone already received their tix for the 5/4 show?
Does anyone have any plans in the works for the days prior to the shows? I'm in S Elgin and I have some friends traveling here that weekend, We'd like to meet up with some fellow 'heads if there's any pre-partying going on!
Being a Chicago area Deadhead, I hope to be able to answer some of your questions. First of all: Shakedown. The last time I saw a shakedown at Rosemont was March 16th & 17th in '94. Wow- What a party! that old Holiday Inn is now a Raddison, but still has the same bar in it, but rooms are way pricey now. All the hotels you guys are referencing adjacent to Allstate Arena will be full of heads. Just get to Manheim and Touhy, and you'll stumble upon all you need for 2 days. You'll find a party- or the party will find you, and then you'll find the floor of somebody's room. So don't sweat it. Just show up: you remember how our community is, right? It'll be my 40th birthday on May 4th, so be to stop by the white bus with IL plates: BUS 1970 for some laughs, grilled cheese, and fatty micro-brews.
Peace,
Salmon Will
I got my 5/5 tickets a few days ago. Waiting on 6 for 5/4! I hope everything works out with the adding of these shows extra shows.
I am only able to hit two shows this tour. I grew up in Chicago, so my choice was an easy one. I have not been to Chicago in about 5 years, and can not wait to be there! I will be staying at the hotel right across the street from the Allstate (the name escapes me at the moment), and will be attending the shows with my best friend who still lives there. Talk about a family reunion!!
I have received my 5/5 tickets, but still waiting for my 5/4. Has anyone received their Monday tickets yet?
Got my 5/5 ticket friday. I was so excited when I opened it, didnt think that I'd ever get to see the dead. I dont think that Im gonna be able to make it for the 5/4 show though. I didnt jump on the bus until after the 04 tour so Im very grateful for this tour. Cant wait to see all of you guys there!
Peace and Love,
Trevor
