Yes, Phil and Bobby are bringing some of their pals to Oakland next month. Plan gatherings here.

yeah, Shoreline was bizarre

in that the venue operators had completely lost their collective memory of how to do a Dead show. It was shocking.

Mileage varies among my friends as to whether Bill is spinning in his grave or laughing and saying "See? I told you you couldn't do it without me!"

But since the Fox is run by Another Planet and those guys are pretty much the true heirs of BGP I expect a much pleasanter experience this time around.

Watch out though. Oakland has an evil new parking policy where the meters cost $2 an hour and run till 8.

I'm still bummed

That I wasn't able to meet up with you all at Shoreline on Mothers Day. Never thought it would take almost an hour to get into the place!

I hope you get your mail order tickets!

I'd love to go to Oakland and meet up

But I cannot justify to my wife (or myself or my work) a 3rd 3000 some mile road trip again this year.

depending on the mail order goddesses, I hope to go Friday and/or Sunday. But as to the rest of it, since I'm long past my touring days, I figure if you're gonna be in my hometown it'd be nice to meet. So I'm just brainstorming. If no interest, also fine!

Are you going to any of the shows? And/or are you just being the city of Oakland's hostess to all the dead heads who will be in your town? ;-)

meanwhile

fond as I am of breakfast at Mama's, the place does get pretty packed on weekends.

Might I suggest we adjourn to the fine Baja Taqueria at 41st and Piedmont? I doubt you will ever find a taqueria with more Dead posters and Jerry art, and the food is great whether you eat meat or veg. Fish tacos are a specialty, but I like other things better.

Maybe Saturday or Sunday afternoon?

hotels

This one's about 10 blocks away:

this one's about a block closer:

these are the more presentable ones that are sorta walking distance. If you don't need walking distance the picture improves considerably.
