so way back in december my wife and i planned a trip to asheville cuase we are thinking of moving there......we currently live in the white mountains of nh.....then the dead announced tour 09 starting in greensboro......my wife took that as a sign that we are defenlty moving there...are we there yet. are we there yet.ARE WE THERE YET
I moved here about three years ago, great place to live, always got good music around!!
You're right about that batcavejoe. My wife and I moved from RI to just west of Winston-Salem almost 3 yrs ago....and we love Asheville. We saw Plant/Krauss there last summer, but I haven't made it yet to the Orange Peel...still quite a haul from our neighborhood.
i cant wait, unfortunately my travel partner couldnt get tix but ill be going to greensboro and Charlottesville va solo and camping the whole time so does anyone know anywhere to shower in between?
Well, not really for me! I'll be walking to the show from my house down the street and avoiding all the gnarley traffic/police presence. We bought our tickets during the pre-sale and I'm still so excited I can hardly contain myself.
A general warning to all planing on coming from out of town, don't stay at the Sheraton Four Seasons, it's awful, awful, awful. Lots of mean spirited folks and towers, all very confusing.
If anybody is still looking for a place to pitch a tent in Greensboro, you can feel free to pm me about using my backyard =)
There are quite a few great divey/friendly bars in the area. I'd advise all to stay away from the establishments on High Point Rd., where things can be seedy, and instead head down to the Walker Ave. area where you can find some gems. There's local, dancingly friendly dive bars: Wahoos and Walkers. A laundrymat/bar, Suds n Duds. Live music w/ sometimes a hefty cover charge, but at times awesome local acts @ The Blind Tiger. A smoke free, 'upscale' bar, Lindley Filling Station, and Sticks and Stones beer & pizza.. Also, on Spring Garden St. in the heart of campus is Old Town Draught House, a pub/bar, and on the opposite side of UNCG on Spring Garden is College Hill, a great divey post college bar w/ good daily specials, pool, foosball, etc.

I have no idea where the PM function on these boards is located. Gah I hate technology.
Chickkiddo, when you're logged in, click on "My Account" under your user name in the left hand column. There will be a View and and Edit tab at the top of the page. Click on the Edit tab, at the bottom of the page is a check-off box for allowing personal messages. Good luck! See you in Greensboro...
In the navigation bar on the left hand side of the page, in the section titled my dead.net where your user name appears, try the link titled My inbox. That's where the PM functionality is.
