I know one place where I will be for a jam Friday night--the Dead at Nassau Coliseum.
I went to all 3 shows Monday. The experience was amazing. The music was uneven. The first venue had about 200 people, in an old converted synagogue, and the setting was amazing. Phil, Bobby and Warren played an acoustic set that had some flaws, but a terrific 20 minute Birdsong was the highlight.
The next venue was the Blender at gramercy, about 500 capacity. Nice solid set. Opened with a long jam into Playin. Nice Franklin's Tower also. Still a little uneven, but a nice set.
The final set was at Roseland, maybe 3000 people. This set had the most energy by far. In my opinion Warren did not really open up all day until Eyes of the World. This has always been one of my favorite songs and this was the highlight for me of the whole day, music- wise. They then closed with St. Stephen>Dark Star>Sugar Mag, and NFA encore. They were jammin pretty hot by the end.
Overall, it aint the same without Jerry. However, I think Warren is a perfect fit and will feel less constrained as the tour progresses. Phil is still a total genius and a monster. If it weren't for Phil, I dont even know if i would go to these shows. The drummers, too were solid. Bobby was Bobby.

If you get confused, listen to the music play"
thanks pomo for your review of the shows. Sounds promising! I'm glad there are some Phil appreciators here. Re: Bobby was Bobby - it's understood... And I now know where the best Friday night jam is. Long Island isn't far away, maybe I'll get a miracle! (Never tried bfore - always did my mail order legit =)
I understand you have a lot of information about what to do that grateful week-end. See you on Canadian deadheads. In french of course.
looking for 2 tickets at face value. Gonna be our miracle. Thank you brothers and sisters
with rings on me fingers and bells on me shoes! <3
Meeting at the Blarney first, see you there!!!
Peace
looks like we gonna be there. Thank you miracle man.
Hey now :-)
Firstly, although I am a long-time deadhead, long-time host of Dead-related programming on WBAI 99.5fm in NYC, and long-time Dead night DJ at the Wetlands from '89 thru '01, I am very new to the Dead.net forums...
That said, I hope I am posting this announcement in the right place - if anyone wants to chime in and let me know if this should be in a different section, I would greatly appreciate any guidance from "older, more experienced deadheads" (remember that tour button?)
Anyway - I've held off pimping this event until now, but this morning the NY1 weather forecast said that Saturday 4/25 will be a stunningly beautiful day - 77 degrees (and we all know this means 80-plus!) - what a perfect day for a BOAT RIDE!
From 3pm-6pm, hang out on the beautiful boat the Temptress, leaving from 41st St. on the Hudson river - for 3 hours of fantastic weather, beer/drinks with old & new friends, and some happenin' tunes to put us all in the mood for that night's show at MSG :-) FWIW, the boat dock is a short 10 minute walk to the Garden...

Hope y'all can make it - should be a fun party on the water!

Hi Dave,
thanks for the invite. I'll be there with my crew - they're poncy urbanites but I'm salty so if you need anyone to bring up the hauser, I'm there! We'd better get back to shore and not lost at sea...

5 days & counting!
If you're heading to the show and want to hang at a cool bar in the Village before-hand, come on over to Tavern on Jane. 31 8th Ave (8th Ave & Jane St.). I will be tending bar there Saturday afternoon. Will be playing GD, Jerry, P&F all afternoon. I'm quitting early meeting some friends there & just hanging out for a few hours before the show.
Great food (best burger in the city) & one of the last neighborhood taverns in the W. Village. I don't own the place and I will be hanging out, not working, so, I'm not trying to drum up biz, just passing the info along. If you're interested in coming by, we're very close to the 14th st. subway (1,2,3 & A,C,E).
If you come by, say hi!
