The month of May kicks off with two shows in Philly, May 1 and 2.
Ok ... I have posted this in multiple places and wanted to add it here as well.
Caught Greensboro and had a ball , stayed with a Buddy but driving to Philly from VA
for the Sat show and was planning on staying in my truck until morning and then
leaving to drive back. Any info on the ability to overnight in the lot ????
Thanks and C'you all there !!!
Doug
Doug,
I think it is extremely doubtful you will be allowed to stay in the lot all night.
I am not saying that100% but doubtful.
Philadelphia cops are pretty mellow generally, but the Pa.Staties are sometimes harsh.
What I would do if I was you, start heading south a bit, annd crash in the first rest area off the highway where it is legal to park all night. the area around the Spectrum isn't the best, so personally i wouldn't want to sleep around there.
problem with trying to sleep in the lot is getting rudely awakened by some fuzz and if there is anything in your rig, they may jam you up. or, even if there is nothing, they may decide to cite you for tresspassing...
after a long night on traffic / security detail, nobody is in a good mood.
cops have a tendency, sometimes, to make arrests at the end of their shift. (like 12am or whatever) then they can get overtime because as the arresting officer they HAVE to take a few hours processing the perp. 'collars for dollars' as it is known.
be careful, please.
peace.
I'm in - with rings on my fingers and bells on my shoes! Someone PM me with the final details. I can't keep up with these boards cause life is crazy busy lately!!

It'll be my first Dead show as well, got tix to the 5/2 show, but gonna go down Friday afternoon for the parking lot scene. I am so excited. I've got the whole weekend off work and boy oh boy am I going to need it! It's gonna be something else seeing them play their last show at the ol' Spectrum.
For all you Philly newcomers, Cheesesteaks - Pat's and Geno's are both great and located right next to each other.
South Street is a great place to hit too while you're in the area, lot's of neat little shops and restaurants. (And Jim's Steaks)
You can't leave cars overnight in the Sports Complex lots, and pretty much the South/North Philly areas aren't very safe to just camp out in your car. As stated the Philly cops are generally pretty mellow, but as of last year, State Police invaded the city as a measure to "help take the burden off the City cops" The Staties and the Philly Cops do not get along at all, some of that whole "we don't need your help" kinda shit. I know Philadelphia was not too thrilled to have State Police within the city limits though. But for the most part, The Philly police have bigger fish to fry then Deadheads pre and post concert. Just don't do anything stupid in plain site and you'll be just fine :)
My girlfriend and I made some cool tye-dye shirts for the show, but everyone's gonna be in tye-dye! We definitely need a big flag with the site's name on it as a central base. And anyone with a blackberry or iPhone should post a general location of where it is on the website for people to find once they're down there! Because the sport's complex is pretty large! It's not like the ol' days a lot of you folks were used to with just The Spectrum and The Vet. Time's have changed!!
Hope to see you all there
