Which guitarist was crankin' out the lead during Cold Rain and Snow?
I'm not good at writing reviews but here goes. These 3 shows were spectacular. They exceeded my already high expectations of a P&F show. I can't recall the last time I experienced such an exploration in sound and jams. They teased and teased for 3 straight days. You never knew what direction they were going to take next. Almost every song had some insane jam before or during it. I felt like Warren was on a mission, even though there is no reason for him to, he was out to prove something I swear! Like I said earlier, Scofield took them to the far spaces of exploration, maybe not even realizing it, but he did it!! Phil fist bumped, high fived and hugged him all weekend, you could just tell he was loving the trip Scofield was taking them on. We all know what Russo and Chimenti bring, I was so happy that Jeff jumped on board for this run!! Jackie was great and is the ultimate utility player .. he was on guitar, the keys and my favorite were his banjo parts particularly Cumberland. Magic Bus was right up his alley.
Thursday had all the "hits" and when they opened up with Shakedown you knew this band meant business. Set the tone for the whole run. SOTM and Just a Little light to end the 1st set was so Jerry and so Brent all in 2 songs.
Friday was my favorite night, to me this was Warren's night. Loose Lucy>Ball and Chain>She Said to end the 1st set and the ripping Passenger 2nd set opener along with that unexpected Low Spark, Caution, another unexpected one in the Walrus and finally that gorgeous Dew were all Warren at his best!!! I could have swore they were going into Foxy Lady inside that group of songs as well! Man oh man what an incredible night that was!!
Hell Saturday was grateful too! The whole 1st set was just a rocking good time. But the song of the weekend (other than Dew of course) may very well could have been Layla. Wow!! God that awesome!!

Anyone venture a review of the 3 Phil shows? Jackstraw from CO was in attendance
: who else? I did not go but wish I had. Missed out on some good skiing too.
I've downloaded the 2nd and 3rd nights, but haven't critiqued any yet.

Is taking the band and us to places never before explored... and so glad Jeff hopped on the bus as well.

Phil, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring, John Molo and Rob Barraco reunite for the first time since 2003 to bring you the sounds that largely defined Phil & Friends in the early 2000s.
