reporting back

Inquiries are ongoing, but I got a response back from JC Juanis in the Phil camp. He says the no-taping thing is certainly news to him and that there was certainly taping going on in Santa Barbara. He's looking into it, being in Denver at the moment, and as soon as I hear from him I'll post further.

My guess at the time was that the fairly draconian sign (which didn't just prohibit recording devices, it prohibited even still cameras, not just video cameras--so people used their phones a lot...) was boilerplate of the venue/Another Planet, and no one thought to make an issue of it and change it beforehand. But when I learn more I'll pass it along.

Meanwhile, I guess the practical significance of this for those of you with tix on the tour is that you might do well to check the policy of the venue beforehand and if they're a problem, head over to phillesh.net and get in touch.

now true

there's no sign of shows from this tour.

I'll go see if there's an official answer, but I'm pretty darn sure Rhino's got nothing to do with this particular situation. If I learn anything useful I'll report back.

well...

I don't have any inside knowledge here, but my guess is that it's something to do with the fact that Phil himself has been providing free downloads of full shows on his own site for quite a few years now, with no pachyderms involved: http://www.phillesh.net/philzonepages/friends_stuff/download.html

Show At Santa Barbara, Ca

A splendid time was had by all. The crowd was happy, vocal and into it..group mind...kindness and happiness all around. Little infant kid with hipster folks in row in front of me groovin on the scene. Dad bought him a tiny T shirt for his first show and they rocked all night. Phil was looking good in great form and voice. The band was tight and strong. Jackie Green zapped us with varied vocal stylings and perfect intonation. He's a virtuoso kid. Right on with vocals and guitar. Molo, Campbell and Moliitz were fine. The music soared and so did we. I read that Mark K. sat in on the Berkeley show. I would have loved to see that. SB Bowl is a great venue. Arriving in daylight with great ocean views and as the sun set and the show continued..the moon came busting through the clouds for a clear...bright night. The crowd went home happy. A fine kickoff for the tour.
