The Schwag

The Schwag

They are a fabulous GD cover band...they hold summer festivals in MO and tour throughout the midwest.
Stu Allen (guitarist from JGB) just signed on to be their "permanent" guitarist.
This guy's Jerry vocals are breathtaking. He truly sounds like 80's-90's Jerry....not to mention his guitar playing is phenomenal. Jerry's soul is definitely with Stu Allen. Check him out on also played with a GD tribute "Workingman's Ed" a lil in the past. The guy is amazing.

String Cheese Incident is also a favorite of mine...although they are currently on a hiatus. Michael Kang from String Cheese also played guitar for The Schwag at a couple of Schwagstocks last year...good stuff...Bill Nershi from String Cheese also sat in for a few songs each night.

Dark star orchestra is probably the closest thing you'll ever get to a dead show. Note from note JohnK. (Jerrys part) Is a dead on match. Keller Williams is a great band too. Little Feet are a great band as well. Gettin pumped for the P.A. shows . Hope to see you all on tour!

Steve Kimock

Kimock with anybody. Last time I saw him was with Everyone Orchestra (another great improv project - quality depending on who's in the band at the moment).

Cornmeal - acoustic jammulation

Keller Williams, especially with Moseley, Droll and Sipes (WMDS)

Elephant Revival (sweet gypsy sweetness - beautiful people playing beautiful music)

Hot Buttered Rum

Anyone with Scott Law

I think all the above can be found on

I didnt see any comments on STS9. They are one of my top five bands at present. Surprised I didnt see any thing about them on the board. They are going to do two sets at Wakarusa. Sort of electronic Dead with no vocals lol ...... peace

Santa Barbara Cover Bands?

Anyone know of any Grateful Dead-oriented bands in Santa Barbara? Moving from Albany where I can go out once a week and see an awesome cover for $5 plus a lot of other live music in the area, so I guess I kinda took it for granted at thought of not having that available to me . I actually don't know what I'd do being able to listenin to the music play when I get confused ;-). I'd definitely love to know where to find the local heads and good music. Much thanks.

theCAUSE - tonight 12/12!!!

The last time we played Moondog's in December, it was a day in Pittsburgh kinda like this one....cold, wet & snowy. We didn't think too many people would come, but wouldn't you know it? Great crowd and it was a night of pure magic!

Tonight, we return to Moondog's in December on a cold, wet & snowy night and we're having our First Annual Eat-Drink-And-Be-Merry Holiday Potluck Party! If you're in the 'Burgh, come on out and bring a hot or cold dish (and enough to share!)!! Doors open at 7pm and music starts around 10pm. We have a great list of tunes on tap and BOTH lovely ladies, CHERYLANN HAWK and JILL PAONE SIMMONS will be singing with us all night. Hope to see you there!

Oh, one more's the link for that cold, wet & snowy night in December '06 from Moondog' stuff....
