    Why no JGB thread?
    Didn't know where to put this question, and I apologize if it has been asked and answered elsewhere, but I didn't see a thread for JGB. Not in GD section. Not in this one. Ratdog. Phil & Friends. Donna Jean. Mickey. But no JGB? Seems rather curious, to say the least. They are still putting out releases, Garcia Live, for instance, and I just wandered over to see if there was opinion on it, and no thread for JGB. What's up?

    I agree with Marye that this is well worth listening to. Even better is the Barnes and Noble exclusive edition which features 6 demos on a second CD. Three of the six feature on the regular album, three do not. These are not rough but polished demos. I actually prefer the demo disc to the regular disc (don't tell Boz !).

    especially if you like his earlier work: the Boz Scaggs Memphis album currently sitting by the cash register at my local Starbucks, where it caught me in a weak moment this morning. As the name suggests, Boz goes to Memphis and gets some great session folks and does old tunes. More smoldering than pyrotechnic, but some very nice moments. I think my favorite so far is "Corinna, Corinna," not the Hunter song but the old folk song that's on that early Bob Dylan album...

    CRAZY FINGERS - GREAT SOUTH FLORIDA DEAD BAND
    I highly recommend Crazy Fingers if you live in South Florida or are on vacation in south florida. Very acomplished musicians playing mostly Dead covers with some Jerry Band stuff as well. Mostly playing in Palm Beach County and Broward County (a bit more in palm beach county than broward) Dont forget to see where they are playing if you go on vacation here and are a dead fan! the website is www.crazyfingers.net

They are obviously solid, very tight musicians. However, I found their recorded music to be almost muzac for Deadheads...excellent background music played by exceptional musicians. Luckily, I had opportunity to catch a live show, and for $20, I gave it a shot. All I can say is "Wow"...extreme energy live...very tight, almost disciplined live, but also highly creative and improvisational. They played about 2 1/2 hours non-stop with VERY impressive jams. I highly recommend their live shows.

Dave McMurray, saxophonist late of Was Not Was, has a new album of Dead covers, Grateful Deadication, which sorta came into being when he saw Weir do Days Between at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass a few years back. It's very good.

Any fans digging Billy's awesome live gigs. He's covered lots of Dead tunes "Wharf Rat" , "To lay Me Down", "Me & My Uncle", All done really well. Of course he's played in Billy and the Kids.

Caught these guys a month ago in Va. Maybe next week in the bay area.
Great live show. Much improvisation.
Glorious and joyful originals. Great covers. Fun Jams coming from some very young pups.
Hopefully they're built to last.

I may be spoiled, but Indianapolis has an amazing band called Starcat that performs music by the Jerry Garcia Band with a lineup that resembles Jerry's classic 90's outfit.
