and not for the first time

I loved the exchange in the bar between the guy who was pissed about being exploited and inconvenienced for the movie and the guy who was sure that in years to come we'd all be watching it. And the guy who interrupted it all with "ST. STEPHEN!"

It gave me some perspective on how annoyed I was with a NYE show with a Pepto-Bismol pink cake and the whole venue lit up brilliant white for TV. Hey, you can still watch the tape and I can still reflect on how I was grinding my teeth. Life is full of tradeoffs!

respectable crowd in Emeryville

and I've got to say, a treat to see it in such fine condition and on such a fine sound system because the previous times I've seen it in theaters over the years it's tended to be in more fleabag, er, art house, venues.

Yeah, it sure is a different perspective on this in 2011 than it was in 1981 when I first saw it as a new Head. But I really appreciate all over again the job Jerry et al did getting it down so well. Nothing could possibly get the band, the crew, the family, the Heads, the culture, and everything in one movie, but this is a darn respectable snapshot and hey, the music and visuals ain't bad either!

Kansas City

I was in Kansas City, on the Plaza watching the movie last night. I saw them in '91, in June. It was my first and only Dead concert. It was huge! I've been to lot's f shows but nothing like that.

LOVED IT

Saw it on Long Island last night. Theater was jammed!
Brought back lots of memories, but what stood out most was how cool we Deadheads were in the 70s and just how talented, intelligent, talented, funny, talented, sweet, and talented Mr. Garcia was in his prime!
I tend to forget that now that he has been gone so long. But seeing him on the big screen again brought back a rush of memories. Many of us in the theateer were practically crying during Morning Dew. Man, do I miss Jerry.

Just got back from seeing

Just got back from seeing the movie in Indianapolis area - not a huge crowd. I saw it when in first came out so it was hard not to be introspective. I remember thinking it was just okay when I first saw it - but I was also getting to see live shows. I really enjoyed it this time - but it was a bit sad as well. Since they added new interviews I wish at the end there would have been a tribute to those who we lost - and perhaps some footage from today. I'm glad I went - when I was sitting in a dorm room as an 18 year old freshman at Kansas I remember asking a friend if he thought we would be listening to the GD when we were 40 ---I'm 55.

Eagan MN here I come

I'll be at the Regal Eagan 16 in Eagan, MN. I wonder is the multiplex can handle a bunch of heads on a week night, who knows there may be just a few of us in the theater.

Looking forward

to tonight on Long Island. I wonder if the theatre will be crowded. I remember going to midnight showings of the movie back in the late 70s and it was always crowded and we were allowed to party. Anyone remember the Mini-Cinema in Uniondale?
