Yeah PK, I bought it. You will like it,8 new songs, really awesome animation too. Plus the second DVD is a behind the scenes view of them in the studio etc. Easily worth the money.
Sounds like a great time. Nice review. I am going to have to check them out.
performance was stellar. I am sure it is well worth the purchase price to get a taste of this years version of the the Rhythm Devils/Mickey Hart Band.
PK, here is a recap of my review of Mickey's Band at the 10,000 Lakefest last month-
MICKEY HART BAND was simply outstanding last night!!! The Other One> Scarlet Begonias> Fire on the Mountain > GDTRFB was transendent. TOO was a wonderful ride and I wept at the wonderful Scarlet and this suite was both grin and dance inducing throughout. It really was beyond words, such fine new tunes and then tremendous renditions of favorites.
And then for an encore they treated us to a rendition of 'Pappa was a Rollin' Stone' that would make the Temptations proud.
Mickey has assembled such a fantastic group of musicians! Jen Durkin has such great vocals and passion punctuated by the ensemble percussion play of Mickey, Walfredo Reyes Jr. and Sikiru Adepoju, driven by George Porter Jr. on bass and vocals, and Kyle Hollingsworth on keys and vocals, and the incomparable Steve Kimock on guitar. Kimock is truly not to be missed, his ethereal runs were nothing short of magnificent. Skittering picking, effect-filled stratospheric runs, and sweet, sweet rhythms. Quite remarkable!!!
This show ranks as one of the best post GD shows I have been lucky enough to witness.
10k is unbeatable for the vibe, the venue, line-up, and great times with new and old friends.
Hey i see they have a new dvd out now. Anyone seen it?
How come no-one replied to this topic??!!! Great read.
"May your dogs be with you"
Went out to Las Vegas Halloween Weekend in 2006; Stayed at the Excalibur; took a nice coach out to Sam Boyd Stadium and Star Nursery Field and truly enjoyed the company of The Rhythm Devils. I got their early for their set and took a seat, indian style. I arose to witness Mickey Hart and his buds jammin' out! What a cool show it was! I remember Mickey saying to the crowd, near the end of their set..."You know that really good feeling that you have right now, take it home with you and do something positive with it in your community". He was all smiles and loved the enthusiasm of the crowd!! What a beautiful weekend it was!
