i am not sure if this is still going on but there was a small group of brothers and sisters who were gathering at the original site every year they never really advertise and every thing was free i went to the 21st celebration and it opened up my eyes so much i was only 17ish and the world was my oyster.....in the middle of the night they set up a stage on a flatbed... free music allweek..some real good acts showed up like Ritchie havens, Arlo guthrie and some others that i forgot...i felt that’s what the original woodstock was all about...there were allot of rainbow folks there with kitchens set up i learned so much about community and social responsibility..i could go on forever...after i went home all my friends kept saying that i looked different something about me changed...i just gave them that inward smile knowing that the love i felt there would stay with me forever....i hope this is still going on

Lots of sons of daddies past:
I can't wait to hear Dweezil Zappa
Damian Marley (& Nas!)
Femi Kuti - this will be a killer set

Also I love the King of Juju - King Sunny Ade
Toots is a legend

Then there's Les - twisted
Tony Rice & Peter Rowan - crazy fingers

None of these are to be missed, IMO

Love to hear reviews of some of the newer -10yrs =) bands out there - not been in touch so much lately.
Thanks!

magical experience

I feel blessed to have attended Rothbury last year and I will say again it was a truly magical experience. There are few words to describe how above and beyond Bury is from other festivals I have attended over the last several years. Rothbury was just magnificent is so many ways. My fear is it will turn into another Bonnaroo, however I have hope that this year, especially with The Dead on board will be another amazing festival... and one I am making the trek from the California Coast to attend again.

Musically, sweet lineup. The Dead Spring Tour 09 has been amazing. I only saw the two Shoreline shows and I am really looking forward to see the boys together again at Rothbury.

I'd like to have it one time more
One good ride from start to end
I'd like to take that ride again

Hope to see you at the Festival

~Sunny

"The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began.."

i completely agree. with

i completely agree. with the buzz going around roth i fear it'll become roo with laptop tents, a salon, and all the other things that will make it into a horrible main streaming monster. In reality i don't see it becoming that way because the vibe will attract some amazing people and the lineup doesn't have metallica or any bands that will attract meathead sh*theads

The sustainable life

Knowing that I am in the minority, I've still my point of view .... why can't we make this festival TRULY GREEN? The "Good Life" clashes with the green lifestyle.

The good life is so American in it it's conspicuous consumption. What the hell happened to us? Why can't we humbly carry the spirit of the land in the way of the Rainbow Family (the best of thier trip, I know they aren't perfect).

I've just got this vision of a five mile long line of cars, all with thier engines idling, melting the ozone and ice caps, waiting to be admitted..

Ahhhh well, I'm sure it'll be a blast with The Dead, Dylan, Rowan. Just don't think about the planet

Most of these festivals usually turn into a huge corporate advertising gig. Thats why generally speaking I don't care for them but it seems to be the only way some of these bands will tour. Please be careful calling Metallica fans sh*theads though, that's an unfair, biased, close-minded and stereotypical thing to say. I know plenty of wonderful folks who happen to like metal, and old school metal is good stuff.

"Escaping through the lily fields, I came across an empty space. It rainbow then exploded, left a bus stop in its place. The bus come by and I got on, thats when it all began. It was Cowboy Neal at the wheel of the bus to never ever land"

Another sure chance to see the Dead!!!

Soooo glad The Dead is headlining at Rothbury!
It sounds like a grate festival, but having The Dead there is more then enough reason to get me there!
Loooong Live The Dead!!!
