Well, until Blair or McNally or somebody comes along and corrects me, I think this is pretty much the canonical list:
Jerry Garcia, lead guitar
Bob Weir, rhythm guitar
Phil Lesh, bass
Bill Kreutzmann, drums
Mickey Hart, drums/percussion
Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, keyboards
Tom Constanten, keyboards
Keith Godchaux, keyboards
Brent Mydland, keyboards
Vince Welnick, keyboards
Donna Jean Godchaux, vocals
all those keyboardists did not play at the same time, though both TC and Keith played with the band when Pigpen was in it.
Now as for a list of guest artists, ay-yi-yi. You've got everything from the Beach Boys to Joan Baez to Branford Marsalis. I don't know where there might be a comprehensive listing. And lineups of The Dead post-Jerry, also numerous.
I am looking for a place where I can find A Band roster for The Band, starting at the beginning and through the Final days in '95......If I can find that,I'd be greatly pleased..I have met several people who claim to have played with The Grateful Dead, but some of them make me wonder ,based on what they say and how they say it..etc.. I was a keyboard player , but Parkinsons has pretty well ended that..I just sing now....But as strange as it seems,,I dont want too sing for or with people who cant tell me The Truth..If anyone can help,I'd appreciate it very much..
you can find "the Race Is On" on Reckoning/For the Faithful, which I THINK is still in print...
