You got it, the version of the Dead that toured this spring with the addition of Steve would be my dream band. Keep Warren on for his amazing vocals and additional colors on guitar or for Interplay with Steve and slide work. But have Steve take us on those flights around the planet and off into deep space.

This is in the mail today to Hal

Man Hal, you hit the nail right on the head! In my opinion Kimock is the only guitar player out there who can hit the notes like Jerry did, you know, hit that psychedelic sound that sends your senses into outer space. Yes including the dude from DSO too (again, in my opinion, his claim to fame is that his voice sounds like Jerry). I just think there is more to it than that. When Kimock filled in for Marak Karan 2 years ago, that RatDog show I saw at RR was the first time in well over 12 years I had been taken back to that "place" in space. I'd like to see The Dead's line up from 2009 but with Kimock too. Now THAT would be the line up of the century!

I'll go for it

What, there was a Kimock Vine and I didn't sign up? Then I looked at the date and realized I was getting ready for my Grand Canyon raft trip.

I saw SKB here in Spokane, sadly there were few at the show. But I stood right in front of him for most of the show. I first saw him play with Kingfish back in the early 80's and have seen him with a variety of Dead related bands since. I always thought that he was the most logical guitar player to move to lead with the Dead after Jerry left., I find that he has the transportation effect on me like Jerry did. I say this as I am also a huge Warren Haynes fan. But Steve is the only one who can move me near that special space in his own way.
