I was 14. I remember it being a typical hot steamy Jersey day, and I was pretty much in awe the whole time. Was with 3 other friends who were also having their first GD experience. I was as much in awe of being with that many other freaks as I was with the music ;)

Had been listening to the GD since '70, wasn't allowed to go to see them at Temple Stadium that year (horrors! North Philly! so said my parents); and '72 was my first chance.

Roosevelt was HUGE for me, literally. I looked for that tape for years and one of the guys on the Well finally came through for me...

Aud - What an incredible way to begin the long strange trip! Could you elaborate on your experience - how does the show rate upon revisiting? Was it steamy? etc. It was so cool to hear the tapers section SBD excerpt from 7/16/72 and it totally primed me for the summer and fall of '72! So fine! Adios

From day to day, just lettin' it ride,
You get so far away from how it feels inside,
You can't let go, 'cause you're afraid to fall,
But the day may come when you can't feel at all."

On this date in deadhead history - my MIL's dog chewed through my laptop cord and my son used up the remaining battery, so my files are captive until the new power supply arrives from Dell on Tuesday. Unless there's somebody out here in Orange County, where I'm visiting, who I can borrow one from. So far I have found that Toshiba uses a different connector than Dell :-)

See y'all on Tuesday sometime...
