Greek Box Set

It occurred to me over the weekend while walking the dogs that you know, what we really need is a box set of all the Greek shows. Maybe with the Jerry Greek shows and the Rex Comes a Time show as a bonus.

Yeah, yeah, I'm dreamin'....

I Agree With The Above Post

I think it's a splended idea by Gratefulhan to have a thread where everyone can list their 5 favorite shows from each year. Maybe it could become a poll thread. My favorite years pretty much fall in line with Gratefulhans (emphasis on 87-90).

My favorites are either single shows or runs.

1987:
6/26-28 Alpine Valley
8/11-13 Red Rocks
8/22-23 Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Angel's Camp, Ca.
11/13-15 Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, Ca
12/27-31 Oakland Coliseum Arena, Oakland, Ca. (including material left off Ticket to New Years)

1988:
4/13-15 Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, Il.
7/2-3 Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, Me.
7/29-31 Laguna Seca Recreation Area, Monterey, Ca.
9/3 Capital Centre, Landover, Md.
12/9-11 Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, Ca.

1989:
5/6-7 Frost Amphitheatre, Stanford U., Palo Alto, Ca.
6/21 Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, Ca. (DVD of Pay Per View including everything like the between set footage and full encore)
10/8-9 Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, Va.
10/26 Miami Arena, Miami, Fl.
12/30-31 Oakland Coliseum Arena, Oakland, Ca.

1990:
3/29-30 Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, N.Y.
5/5-6 California State U. Dominguez Hills, Carson, Ca.
6/8-10 Cal Expo Amphitheatre, Sacramento, Ca.
6/23-24 Autzen Stadium, U. of Oregon, Eugene, Or.
12/31 Oakland Coliseum Arena, Oakland, Ca.

Just give us the best

I would like to see the best shows in the vault be released. On the old forum, I started a topic of "favorite Grateful Dead year" and there were a variety of years listed from all of the replies. Since it is a monumental task to thin down the Dead's best shows for release, I think there should be a ballot or voting system where all of us can vote for our top 3-5 shows for each year. Once the voting is done, the crew can start producing the releases based on the fan voting. In that way, everyone should get a show they want released and the fans can be active particpants in the process. There will probably be a lot of similar choices for each year.

See, my problem is that I just want as many of the best shows as I can get, so it really becomes hard to decide on a starting point. I primarily like shows from 69 through 74 and 77, but also like shows from 87 to 90. Even more of a problem is that there a just too many great shows in general to decide from. I think if we got several of the best shows from each year, I might calm down a bit (he he).

the rumors that I heard were

the rumors that I heard were that Dick, before he passed away, left some pretty specific instructions regarding which shows and when his 'picks' were to be released... a rumor, don't know if it is true or not.

did anyone ever hear just exactly how many 'picks' he made??

peace.

Re: What's up with the Dick's Picks?

King Harvest said: "Come on Mr. Rhino at least one more."

The suspicion that Dick's Picks, as a series, is run its course is starting to creep into my mind. See that 50 page booklet with full details of all 36 Dick's Picks releases? "The DP 'Dex" or whatever. Free with Three From The Vault. Feels like it might be drawing a line under the DP concept, perhaps? Would they really then immediately make "The DP 'Dex" out-of-date by releasing another DP? Mmmmm. I wonder.

The time has come for this, most unbelievable, show to be released. Pure Energy.

Winterland 73 Box

The unreleased box set obviously!!

My second choice would be 10/27-28/79. But I'd settle for an increased release schedule above all else.

It's Been Said, But....

The two I would really love to see:

A May '77 highlights set
The November '73 Winterland run

Both of these are drool inducing. So what's the hold up?

7-17-88.... A great show!

One of my favorite shows ever! I was up on the lawn for this one, and the energy that the band had that day was nothing short of amazing. A real down home, family energy show. I think it would make a great release. I saw the Blackbird at Alpine that year, and this one was better, if you can believe that! Good choice

Midnight on a carousel ride, reaching for that gold ring down inside. Never could reach it. It just slips away. BUT I TRY!
