I love the idea of having a new thread for each vine. I always thought that's what would eventualy have to happen if this thing ever started to bulid up any steam, which it certainly has. The way things are now, I think, is way to cumbersom and intimidating to continue. Like marye says, we'll try it out and see how it goes.
I just had one thought. I don't want to stifle anyone or anything, but it may be a little less overwhelming if we limited the number of vines each of us offers to the group. What I mean is, perhaps a vine should run it's course a little before another is offered behind it. This would also make it easier on the mods. Maybe this isn't a good idea, perhaps what is neaded is to just be mindful of the way things are going and act acordingly. Or, maybe I'm the only one who is overwhelmed by it all and we should procede full steam ahead. Also...
would it be helpful to have a seperate thread for any extra comments that are not just repostings of the list? Just some things to think about. Can't wait till the new forum goes up! Rock on.

I am off soon to a meet a friend at a bar near time's Square before heading over to the Nokia Theater for the Phil show. Very psyched. It is my sunshine daydream that Phil announces Donna Jean as the special guest. I'll let you know how the show was on Mon.
I still am not FLAC/SHN capable. I recently purchased a laptop for the very purpose of participating on these vines. I don't have the internet so can't download stuff yet. I will get online soon. I haven't had an at-home connection in years. I never felt I needed it because I access the internet all day at work and accomplish all I need there online. Guess I got a reason now, FLAC/SHN. I really hope someone can help me. I have tried to follow some of the discussions but it gets really complicated. I need someone to tell me what rip/burn system to download (I use WMP now and from what I have read it doesn't burn FLAC/SHN) and what FLAC/SHN stuff to download. Of course, I don't want to have to pay, if possible.
Finally, I just wanted to quickly comment on the Road Trips series. Like most people here, I would rather have complete shows. But unlike many, I am not a completest. I personally am still in the process of collecting quality shows with quality SBDs. I don't need subpar shows in subpar sound quality. Putting all that together, I think this is a good release for the tour/period. I don't have much '79. I don't want all of '79. I choose to trust that the archivists have given us the best from these shows. I do have some concern about future releases, though. For example, if they release similar packages from Fall '86, Summer '87, and Spring '88, I would not purchase all of them, if any of them. I don't think this series will work either if they release bits of shows from peak year such as '69, '72-'74 or '77. It could be good for releasing bits of shows where the complete SBD doesn't exist, or if it does, where it isn't pristine for the entirety of the show. I think Fall '79 was a good choice as it isn't a peak year but it is a good enough period that I want some of it. After reading many comments about this release, let me reiterate what at least a few commentators have said: if you choose to comment on this release, please just speak for yourself and not for Deadheads as a whole. Many people have said things like "Deadheads don't want partial shows..." While I too mostly want complete shows, it isn't true that all Deadheads want the same thing.
Hope this didn't come off as a rant. I hope everyone has a great weekend. And keep on vining!

Although others seem to like Mary's suggestion, I don't. Let me point out that now instead of just checking one board for new posts, we are going to have a bunch of them to check. yeah, it will easier to find the next person on each vine, but someone almost always signs up soon after you do, so you only need to check for a day or so after you sign up. AND, it is the responsibility of the person signing up to contact the person in front of them.
Nothing to do with me
It is all the fault of CB and someone you don't know called CJ
