This festival is a DO NOT MISS! I have been all three years and it gets better every time. The Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks Band & Oteil & the Peacemakers always play. Some others from past years are Dark Star Orchestra, Tea Leaf Green, Susan Tedeschi, John Popper Blues Project, The Wailers, Devon Allman & Honeytribe, Jack Pearson Band, OAR, Robert Randolph, Nickel Creek, Keller Williams, Rose Hill Drive and the Radiators. It is usually around Easter weekend. Keep posted on their website at waneefestival.com.
This was Vasser Clements personal playground. If you are a lover of music bluegrass folk etc this is your place. Springfest is wonderful with the live oak trees and hammocks. The camping area has jamming all night long and many of the performers make their way out their to jam at night. I would reccomend at lazy trip down the river by boat as a good way to start the festival
I'd love to go to Magnolia Fest this year but I can't imagine how I'd make that work, this year. My wife has already threatened me with a formidable shower curtain rod (in connection with something about a sensitive part of my anatomy) if I so much as spend another nickel on live music this year. Wait 'till she gets the BSO and Phil & Friends (& ABB) ticket bills... I do have friends that will be going though, believe it or not (the part about me having friends, I meant ; - ). I'll send them over with my regards, DG. Good to see Izzy is still around these parts, too, I was beginning to wonder about her.

Wanee is my favorite festival. I can't compare much from not attending many others but the vibe is like a family reunion. I am trying to economize on shows also. Have been very lucky winning from the local radio station. I think Spring- and Mag-fest have volunteer deals.
This was the best three days I've spent in ages. The camping was beautiful, the weather was great and the music was flowing. Met some great people I've seen at other events since. This venue is run superbly by the Music park crew. Go if you get the chance. I heard it may get delayed or postponed this year because of so many scheduling conflicts.

I can't get tired of the Satellite Dead Channel, as much as I may try.
So, I just now found out about this coming tour. I've been waiting since 2004 for a Dead tour and I just found out and got my tickets to the LA show and they are really sucky tickets because I'm so late to the game. I get regular Deadnet email. Somehow I missed this. Man, it's going to take me a bit to get over this disappointment. I'm way up high and almost behind the stage. Augh!
