Grateful Dead
...shall we go, you and I while we can...
This site is listed as a "favorite" on my comcast home page, so I stay logged in and simply click on the site name, so maybe that's the problem, I'll check.
From your broswer? I don't get it... no one has said anything about that before. Is this a common thing, folks? Paisley, I don't mean to be stupid, but how do you log in?
...shall we go, you and I while we can...
Each time I click on the site from my browser, Access Denied, You Do Not Have Permission To Access This Page, appears. I was just suggesting you might soften the language. Same with the threads in the forums, make it a little lighter, that's all. I know you've got bigger things to think about, 'cause it seems like you got thrown in the deep end of the pool here! Take care!
You're right, paisley, and we've given it alot of thought. Perhaps something right off that states that this is a moderated site, and therefore not a site with user-created topic areas, just like DeadNetCentral, and unlike Ratdog.
I'd think by now though, with the site being several weeks old, an astute new user would pick up right away that there are not 50+ daily, randomly created and non-integrated topics...
I'm not sure, though, where a first-time user would come across Access Denied, except maybe the fan photos, which while a sore spot, is being worked on and is in the Read First FAQ Section. Is there a better way, I wonder, to draw the new user's attention, than to post in areas called Read First, Before You Get Started, and FAQ?
...shall we go, you and I while we can...
Maybe it's a bit picky, but am I the only one who thinks its a little off-putting to have the first thing I see on the site state in bold letters "Access Denied", How 'bout "You can't see this yet" or "We know it's blank,Okay?" something a bit more friendly?
Same with "You cannot post a forum on this page" , maybe something like" You can't open a thread, but you can write all you want to" or "We're open to suggestions for new threads because you can't start 'em yourself". I know you all must be very busy...just give it a thought.
glad to be here,,fells like coming home
Very cool! Happy to be here. And a special hi to all my old Well friends. A special hi to Marye who used to know me as [baq] on the Well, way back from 1987 to 1990. And I noticed that David Gans hangs around too. Good to see the old Well crew is still about. We'll definitely drop by frequently. You can check out my intro in the Introductions forum, at http://www.dead.net/forum/introducing-ourselves?page=18. It has a piccie of my "kids". ;-)
well done to all involved.
i'm over in the UK been a deadhead since I was 13 (1978) greatest band ever to walk this planet!! :)
"what a long strange trip it's been"
I am a relative new comer to the Dead family, having "discovered" them during college in 1988-1990. Since then, I have tried to get as many albums(cds) as possible, along with reading the band's history. Love the site, and can't wait to explore it in full.
Blessed Be!
