It is WAY past time to have a new version of this! So here it is! What's coming through your speakers and headphones?

This might be a Great Divide slogan ...
To augment Hal and Cosmic, I saw the same line-up of Frank Zappa's group on 11/14/77 in Denver, most likely,at McNichols. Frank did not play in Boulder that night.
It was indeed him. The SBD of the London show may well have come from Belew's stage monitor so we have a lot to thank him for. A couple of years later FZ hired Steve Vai for his touring band. What a talent spotter and not afraid to share the stage with young whizz kids.
Enjoy ZPZ Hal.

Bob Dylan - I'm reading the last entry in his Chronicles, Vol. 1, and it inspired me to throw this one on - I'm trying not to find the progress made between this and The Freewheelin' BD difficult to comprehend, but it's just not happening. Still, his first demands listening - well, I'd do anything in this God Almighty world if you just let me follow you down.

I met Frank when he was checking into his hotel in Orlando back in the late 80's, it was a strange little bunch of characters. Zappa, all tall and thin and dark, a small dwarf who kinda hung on Frank's coat tails (Frank had on a black tux coat with tails, as did the dwarf), a really large bald headed guy who when he looked at you, you got a chill, and a little blonde chick, all glittery and jiggley. They didn't say much, just give me the keys, please. Later that night, they put on a show at the Orena, orchestra and all, did a lot from "Joe's garage" Frank played a little that night, but mostly he orchestrated and vocals. The circus was definately in town that night. Just put on "200 motels", sounds alot like cartoon music in places, but still way out there. Frank could wail on the ax when he felt like it. Shut up and play your guitar awesome, also shut up and play your guitar some more, zappaaxman supreme.
Their only appearance at my alma mater. I didn't attend the show (was not even a Deadhead yet) but was on campus the next day which was my birthday! My first "near miss". An excellent late 70's show. Wish I had been at this one. Check it out!
